Gravitation is the story of 18 year old Shuichi Shindo, an aspiring young singer. The story differs a little from manga to anime, but essentially it starts with him and his best friend, Hiro, trying to get noticed in the music industry. In the manga they're still in high school, though about to graduate, in the anime they've already gotten on a label, they just need a hit song to get them going.
Anyways, while Shuichi is trying to write the award winning lyrics for their song he runs across a rather nasty man in the park who turns out to be a famous romance novelist. The rest of the series, though it does stay involved in Shuichi's music career, revolves around his relationship with this writer, named Eiri Yuki. Shuichi is a hyperactive and determined teenager while Yuki is a antisocial writer with many mental issues.
Overall the series is unbelievably funny, with a romantic streak that would most likely never work in reality. It's worth it, though! At the moment there are twelve volumes with new installments being written for an online comic in Japan. There are also twelve Remixes, smut written and published on the side by the original author, three Megamixes, smut written by the author that makes you sit back and wonder if it's even humanly possible to perform such acts, and another doujinshi-type thing called Help. Only the twelve mangas have been released in America, aside from the anime series and OAV.
