Chapter 10

Advanced Searching

Version 1.5 of Dokusha adds two new search features: Compound Search and Search History.

Using Compound Search

Compound Search helps you find kanji compounds which include two or more given kanji characters. It is similar to the "Find All" feature in the Kanji Details screen, but allows you to find words that include either ALL or ANY (you choose) of the kanji characters you specify.

To use the Compound Search feature, select Compound Search from the main reader screen's Lookup menu. In the Compound Search screen, you are presented with the last six kanji characters you have looked up. (If you have not looked up any kanji characters yet, the list will be blank and you will need to look up some characters before you will be able to use the Compound Search.) To search for compounds containing the kanji characters you specify, select the desired characters from the list. If necessary, look up the characters you want using any of the available kanji lookup methods. Then, select whether to search for compounds containing All the selected characters or Any of the selected characters. Finally, tap the Find button to conduct the search.

Using the Search History

The Search History records your last 16 dictionary searches and your last 6 kanji lookups.

To replay a dictionary search, simply tap the search entry. To revisit a kanji character's details, tap that character.
