Introduction

The reviews are organized by Category and by Manufacturer. Categories include a complete listing of existing reviews for that category, while Manufacturer contains a complete list of that company's kits, if there is a review of a specific kit then there is a link to it.

To help fill in this database please send me any reviews you can.

These reviews are rated on a 1 to 10 scale for five relevant points: Value for Price; Detail; Molding Quality; Parts Fit; Ease; and Instructions. Finally it is given a Overall rating on the 1 to 10 scale.

This Reviews Database is very, very closely patterned after the Reviews Directory on the Track-Link tank-modeling website, run by Paul A. Owen.

Submitting a Review

All reviews are useful. When writing a review ask yourself: "What would I like to know about this kit if I were to buy it?" Reviews fall into two types: "In-box" and "Construction". An In-box review is a basic description of the kit before construction, or a first-look. Generally these are simple reports of what the kit contains, moulding quality, etc. While a Construction review is written after the kit has been built. These will be more in-depth and describe any problems and fixes encountered during construction. Mulitple reviews are good too, in fact it is desirable to get a second opinion on a kit. So if a review already exists do not be put off from reviewing the kit too. Reference lists are extremely useful too, I urge everyone to cite the references used for their reviews. Also refer to existing reviews for examples.

Reviews can be sent to Anime Model Addicts at amaclub@yahoo.com in plain ASCII text.

If possible include a jpeg or gif of the boxcover of the model, or picture of the tool, you're reviewing, in your email submission.

Review Policy

Anime Model Addicts exists so that mecha-modelers can share unbiased information about their hobby, and one of the most important sources of information are reviews. I will publish any and all reviews sent in with one exception: I will not publish reviews that have been written by a manufacturer about their own products.

This site is free of commercial influence therefore all reviews are unbiased and should be taken from a fellow modeler's perspective. All opinions should be your own, reached after careful examination of the samples and based on your experience as an mecha-modeler.

I may occasionally recommend a good place to purchase the product; this I will do as a convenience for hard to obtain products. I am not affiliated with any modelling companies, book publishers and/or mail order firms.

A few people have asked me why this or that hasn't been reviewed. I may not review something for a variety of reasons, first is financial -- I don't have the money to go and buy things just to review for Anime Model Addicts, and second is availability -- I may not be aware of certain items because they are not available to me here in America. Remember that I am only one person and it is up to you to review things which I have not.
