Azim caught the "wanderlust" bug from his storied grand-father, Mirza Ziauddin Akmal (scion of the Mughal aristocracy) who asked for his patrimony in his teens and left for Europe from then undivided India by the overland route - Afghanistan, Persia (now known as Iran) and Turkey.
