Star Tanjo.
She chose to sing Hiromi Iwasaki's Natsu ni Dakarete. Unfortunately, Akina lost the chance to win as the jury said the song was to mature for her.

Akina's ambition to be a singer had not been discouraged by her first loss in the singing contest last year.
She tried her luck again a year after and selected Seiko Matsuda's Hadashi no Kisetsu. Again the dream was still a dream.
Picture : Akina scored 392 in her third attempt. The highest mark in the history of Star Tanjo at that time. |

Akina stepped on the contest stage again for the third time and sang her idol, Momoe Yamaguchi's Yumesaki Annainin.
That time, her dream really came true. She got the highest marks (392) among the finalists and won the contest. Her walk to stardom begins....
After the contest, she entered Meidai Senior High School.
