Outings en Femme - My Public Face

As my dressing has progressed, I've often felt the need to present myself in public. However, as I don't feel that I'm all that convincing en femme and I don't have the courage to walk down the street fully dressed in daylight, these outings are not really in public but rather to some tranny friendly venue. Here are my thoughts and descriptions of my limited number outings over the last few years. I've tried to include some images, but I've only got a few from my last outing to the House of Drag. Please give the images time to load. If you like the pictures, please feel free to email me with your comments.

To any budding trannies out there, going out en femme is the hardest step of all out of the closet. I can't suggest anyway to make it easier, but here are my experiences.

Ron Stormes (October 1998)
I'd been thinking about a possible trip down to one of the London TG venues for sometime before finally deciding to contact Linda's Dressing Service. Linda suggested that Ron Stormes might be the best venue for a shy, first timer to visit and I happily went along with her. I arrived at Linda's around mid-afternoon on the Saturday and was greeted by Linda and a number of other "girls". After an early dinner, I dressed in the outfit I'd brought along with me for the occasion - appropriate foundation and underwear, black opaque tights, a short skirt in black brushed cotton, white T-shirt, red brushed cotton overshirt and black, suede knee length boots - and then Linda did my hair and makeup. With a jacket to match the skirt and a shoulder bag full of the usual girlie things, we were then off in a stretch limo to the club.

We were amongst the first to arrive at around 9 pm. Ron welcomed Linda, myself and the other girls as we arrived and we found a table. The rest of the evening flashed by and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but unfortunately have no pictures to prove it. I did, however, put together the same outfit for one of my makeover sessions and here it is.

I had to agree with Linda, Ron Stormes was a great venue for my first outing. Linda did an excellent makeover on me and I got the chance to meet a number of other girls on the TG scene in London.

Northern Concord at the Hollywood Showbar (November 2000)
I was getting itchy feet and feeling like another public outing when one of my on-line friends, Louise Owen, suggested a visit to one of the Wednesday evening events run by the Northern Concord in Manchester.  I eagerly agreed and arranged to meet Louise at a motel on the motorway where she could drive us into Manchester. I arrived at the motel at about 6.00 pm, showered, did my own make up (a real first, I must say) and dressed. This time, I chose a slightly more conservative outfit comprising a powder blue roll neck sweater, long dark grey quilted skirt, black opaque tights, knee boots and a leather jacket to finish. Louise met me at around 7.30 and we drove into Manchester city centre. The Hollywood Showbar is in the Manchester gay village and to get there we had to walk some distance from the car. This was my first time walking in the open in a busy city centre dressed and I was incredibly nervous. I managed to overcome those nerves and we strolled through the area to the bar.

The Northern Concord events are held in the Piano Bar upstairs in the Hollywood Showbar and by the time we arrive it was reasonably busy. There were are number of girls already there enjoying drinks and listening to the music. That's precisely what we did for an hour or so. The funniest thing that happened in that time was a guy going around measuring everyone's feet and asking them to fill in a questionnaire. It turned out that he was a chiropody student from one of the colleges doing his final year research project - or so he said!!

Louise then announced that we should go for a walk around the village. This we did. Initially, I was again very nervous, but the nerves soon wore off as we wandered around, bags swung over our shoulders and clutched tightly in our hands. After 15 or so minutes, we decided to return to the Hollywood Showbar and had a couple more drinks before calling it a day. Louise then drove me back to my motel, where I had to walk through reception and back to my room dressed. That, I think was the hardest time as I'd thoroughly enjoyed myself that evening and wished that it could go on a little longer.

The Boudoir and The House of Drag (February 2002)
My most recent outing was again to a venue in London. This time I decided that I'd like to go out mid-week, so I asked Jodie at the Boudoir if there were any suitable venues. She suggested the House of Drag in Mayfair. I accepted her suggestion and booked and evening out with Jodie on the town. I also arranged to meet another of my online friends, Lindy Cruse, but more about that below.

After arriving in London and checking into my hotel, I arrived at the Boudoir at around 6.30 pm. After a little natter and something to drink, I dressed - corset, skintone dance tights, panties and bra as a foundation, followed a white sleeveless top, fishnet tights, a long black leather skirt with two long slits at the front and a black satin shirt. A rather more daring look than previously. As I dressed Lindy phoned to tell me that she couldn't meet me that night as while she was driving down to London some idiot had driven into her - a case of the best laid plans!

Jodie then did a marvelous job on my makeup and hair. It was then on with the jacket and bag and into the cold night air for the drive into central London.

We arrived at the club at around 10.00 pm and I was introduced to Steffan, the girl who runs it, and a couple of other girls who were there that evening. The club was rather quiet that night with only two or three girls and a few other clients. Maybe it was because there was a major football match on elsewhere in London!! Jodie and I settled in at the bar and had a couple of drinks, while Jodie took some pictures of me.

At about 12:30, we went downstairs to the cabaret venue and Jodie arranged a few more pictures with Steffan (in the red dress) and herself (in the trousers).

Over the next 30 or 40 minutes, Steffan treated the audience to a number of well known songs, before the evening drew to a close and I returned cinderalla-like to my hotel room.

As with my previous outings, my initial steps out were very nervous, but as the evening progressed the nerves wore off and, although exhausted at the end of a long day, I'd thoroughly enjoyed myself. Jodie was really sweet throughout the evening and I hopefully will return to the Boudoir on future occasions.
