I’m a late thirtysomething, heterosexual crossdresser living in the East Midlands of the UK, near the fair city of Nottingham. Like many I’ve read about on the web, my dressing started at an early age. I'm an only child and as a pre-teenager and as a teenager, I’d take the opportunity offered by the summer vacation from school and the fact that both my father and mother worked to dress in my mother’s underwear and clothes. This continued on and off until I left home, when I had the chance to buy for myself the trappings of the female aspects of my persona.
In the early phase of my crossdressing, I am prepared to admit that I used it as a masturbatory aid, but as time went on the urge to masturbate when dressed was reduced and I came to see my dressed self as an alternative side of my personality. Crossdressing for me is an escape from the pressures of my male life and a means to express a softer and gentler side of me not normally exposed in my workaday life. Alison, as my alter ego, can into existence only in my late twenties and she has grown steadily over the last decade or so. More so in the past four or five years with my small step out of the closet onto the web, some makeovers/photosessions and some very enjoyable visits to tranny venues in the UK.
While I may crossdress, I will point out that I am happy in my genetic gender, and have no desires at all to follow the route to full womanhood taken by transsexuals, although I have every admiration for their courage and perseverance in the face of public ignorance and legalised discrimination.
I’m a crossdresser, transvestite, CD’er, trannie - whatever you want to call it - and happy with it!
Nationality
I’m a Scot and proud of it. I may live in England and carry a British
passport, but the former is simply because of my job and the latter because
Scotland isn’t yet sufficiently independent to issue it’s own passports.
I await the day eagerly.
Education
I have a postgraduate level education (I have a BSc and a PhD) in a
science.
Employment
I work in the UK university sector, but that's all I'm willing to say.
Hobbies
Since I’m taking the time to put this up on the web, computers must
certainly be one of my interests, but to that I’d add science in general.
Note that I say science not technology, i.e. the (mis)application
of science. High on my list would also be shopping for clothes and trying
to look good. A girl has just got to look good, hasn’t she! Judge how well
I do that by checking out my photos.
People
I am generally a very tolerant person. I can get on with almost everyone
and have rarely met people that I can’t get on with in some fashion or
another. My only real dislikes in people are arrogance, intolerance and
ignorance. I also am not too keen on foul mouthed “tranny chasers” who
see me solely as a sexual object. But at least on the internet you can
filter those out!
Likes and Dislikes - Books
Books are very important to me. I am avid reader and have read science
fiction for most of my life. I'll read just about anything, but my favourite
authors are Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein and Herbert of the older school of
writers and Banks, Bear, Brin and Hamilton of the more modern school. Outside
science fiction, I enjoy the straight fiction of Iain Banks. As to dislikes,
I cannot stand the Barbara Cartland type of histo-romantic pulp novels.
Likes and Dislikes - Music
I am bit of an ageing hippie with rock tendencies in my music tastes.
I’m a great fan of Pink Floyd and of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and of many
of the rock bands that sprang up in the UK in the late sixties and seventies
(Deep Purple, Rainbow etc.) and, surprise surprise, Meatloaf. Latterly,
my interests begun to reflect my nationality with a preference for Scottish
bands like Deacon Blue (great to see them back together even if it was
only for a short tour last year), Del Amitri and Travis. As to my muscial
dislikes, you can count just about every boy or girl band from the 90's
in there. I just can't stand the kind of mass-manufactured kiddy pop that's
around today.
Likes and Dislikes - Films
As you might guess from my taste in reading matter, I’m a great fan
of science fiction movies. But, surprisingly, I am also a great fan of
musicals. “Singing in the Rain” is one of my favourite movies of all time
and wasn’t Madonna brilliant in “Evita”. There are few films that I really
dislike, but as a guide anything that the Sunday Times movie critic likes,
I'm a bit wary about.
