MOVIES SO BAD YA GOTTA SEE 'EM!!!

Some the the best movies are the worst!!!!!

If you happened to catch my MOVIE OF THE WEEK review of THRILL KILLERS. You know doubt have heard me praise Ray Dennis Steckler and count him among such great cult classic film makers like Russ Meyer, Jack Hill or Ed Wood. But even a great film maker can make a truely bad film, as this weeks WORST OF THE WORST proves.

This week we look at
RAT FINK A BOO BOO

As good as THRILL KILLERS was, this movie is that bad. Sure it's campy enough, maybe even too damn campy, but I think where this movie suffers is the actual production value. Budget for this flick was practically non-existant. In fact, it originally was to be titled 'RAT FINK AND BOO BOO' but the title designer screwed it up and Steckler had no money to fix it. This movie looks extremely amateurish compared to Stecklers other movies 'The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies' and 'The Thrill Killers' which strangely enough were made before this one. But what really makes this movie aweful is the unevenness and constant changing of style. It starts out with home movie like footage of a parade with Rat Fink and Boo Boo in their motorcycle. And just when you think you are about to see some comedic Batman and Robin Parody, it switches to what appears to be a serious dark killer flick, like Thrill Killers, only with and emphasis on 'dark'. I mean it's so dark you can barely see the victim or her assailents.

See what I mean?
But finally, after the credits, the narrator introduces us to Lonnie Lords, a rock and roll singer, and next thing you know, it's '60s Teen-a-go-go dancing. Then it's back to the three goons and killer crimewave theme, and being bored they pick someone to stalk, said rock and roller's girlfriend, at random from the phone book. After some stalking and terrorizing, they kidnap her.... and from there, it's back to Batman parody, as said Rock and Roller, and a retarded gardner jump into a closet and emerge as crime fighting Rat Fink and Boo Boo. Of course there are a few more musical numbers and a gorilla.

But mostly the story goes on like they were making it up as they went.

Still, if you want to watch this puppy, good luck finding it. It doesn't seem to be availible anywhere. Hell, I couldn't even find a cover for it. My copy is like a 5th generation copy.
