Review of "A Secret Wish" By Bill Carns

This is Bill's first attempt at writing Final Fantasy VII Fanfiction, and I can proudly say I am fairly impressed by this story. So far it has contained a few plot twists and a few returns by old characters and a few new characters. Unfortunately Bill seems to have stopped writing this exciting fic, therefore I have decided to review this now rather than later (and besides I can re-write the review if he writes more). Although this story is intriguing it seems to get to no real plot lines whatsoever, just a bunch of stuff happens, for instance; Tseng comes back and for no real reason tortures some of the group.
Maybe there is a reason, but because the story isn't finished you don't find out. This to me is quite annoying. I'd love Bill to give us the answers but unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will get them. The new Ancient Salkas is an interesting character; maybe the ShinRa were going to breed him with Aeris?
Overall, I'm strangely interested by this story but it frustrates me that I can't read more. So many plots are started, but they are by no means finished or anywhere near completion.

Story/Basic Theme: Not much in the way of plot, the story doesn't really get a chance to fully start, but plot twists such as Reno being someone's brother and Tseng's return pull the fic's points up a bit. Has potential, but doesn't achieve.
I give it 15/30

Quality of Writing: Reasonably good level of writing, good descriptions of the surroundings, although too much bland speech. Although not superb, the standard was good enough to keep me reading the whole thing in one go.
I give it 16/30

Universe: The actual universe in which the characters are in is very close to the game, such things as Salkas not having to use materia to cast magic expands the universe somewhat. The characters are pretty close to the game, but there is one thing that is bad about this fic. Bill seems to kill off important characters without much emotion or sense of the game, when Aeris died it was massive, but Elena and Rude are killed off with almost no thought.
I give it 18/30

Overall Enjoyment: Despite the criticism I have given "A Secret Wish" I do enjoy it as a story, it's just disappointing that I can't read any more. It's very promising and overall I enjoyed it quite a lot. Despite minor annoyances,
I give it 25/30

Total Score: The scores added together make:
74/120
