Parent's Night
Posted Friday,March 22,2002, 12:00:30 PM by Doug Davis
Last night was Parent's night at Christopher's pre-school. Tina now teaches 2-year-olds there, so it was a big night for her as well. Parents get to visit the rooms, talk to the teachers and see the children's work. They also have a program where the kids sing for the parents. Christopher was very animated on stage. He knew the songs well, did all the motions and danced around. He did a great job. Of course there was that problem with the boy he was standing next to. I think the boy was bumping Christopher and making him mad. Chistopher really gave him some looks. His teacher had to move the boy to another spot. The parents even enjoyed that part of the program.
Playing Buzz

As I've written before, Nicole and Christopher have been playing together very well and enjoy playing Buzz Lightyear. Welll, on Saturday they were playing and Nicole became quite upset. In fact she was down right mad. Christopher, who likes to memorize his favorite things, was acting out an episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command almost word-for-word and was insisting that Nicole say everything just right. Nicole, of course, couldn't remember "her lines" and didn't like Christopher's insistence. Needless to say, we had to break them up and encourage Christopher to use his imagination instead.
First Book Read

Christopher really read his first book last night. Tina got these early readers from the library. She thought she got the first level books, but they ended up being level B. But Christopher did a great job sounding out the words and really reading the whole book. The book he read was called "Floppy Mop" by Bobby Lynn Maslen.
Sounding Out Words

Christopher is getting better all the time at sounding out words. He now brings things up to us and says, "Does this say ...?". Last night he held up his Gameboy to me and asked, "Does this say 'Go to Race'?" and it did. He got a birthday invitation and sounded out almost the whole thing himself. Exciting to see him grow and learn.
Disciple Song
Posted Friday,March 08,2002, 07:09:37 AM by Doug Davis
The other day Christopher sang us this wonderful song that listed the names of Jesus' disciples. It is really a cute song and he's really learning all the names. I hope I can get it on video. It's one to keep.
Story Telling
Posted Tuesday,March 05,2002, 11:53:01 AM by Doug Davis
Christopher's pre-school teacher told Tina the other day, "Christopher's always enjoyed telling stories. But now they're getting longer." If Christopher has a listening ear, he'll be glad to tell you all about his latest toys, games and TV shows. Oma called last night and he was telling her all about his Buzz Lightyear stuff. Pretty cute.
Sleeping and Singing As you may have read in Nicole's journal, Nicole and Christopher are sharing a room again. For now anyway. They both enjoy the company.
