Nicole's
Activities:
5/7/98, Thursday
Nicole is now in Gymnastics, and really likes it. She's also talking to me
on the phone now, which is a fun diversion from work. Today she was telling
me she did cart wheels, jumped on the trampoline and did chin-ups on the
bars.
4/30/98, Thursday
Nicole has started a Gymnastics class. She really likes it.
Mommy has also signed her up for swimming lessons which will start later.
I was sick yesterday and Nicole made me a beautiful get
well card. She's really starting to try to write lots of words.
She's always asking Mommy "How do you spell ..."
4/22/98, Wednesday
Nicole has always had a vivid imagination. For her 4th birthday she
got these tiny stuffed ponies. they are now her favorite
toy. She pretends that she's the mommy and that they are her babies.
She's named them Spots, Happy and Brown Sugar.
She likes for us to play with her and be the parents
of one of the ponies. Nicole is always Spots, Mommy is
Happy and I am Brown Sugar.
4/21/98, Tuesday - Great Quotes
Nicole is attaining a pretty large vocabulary. And sometimes it's fun to
hear how she uses it. Last night she told us "The broccoli is hateful!".
If she doesn't like something, she tries to think of the most horrible
thing to compare it with. For example, she has said before that her food
was like an "octopus". She also makes interesting connections.
For example, yesterday while they were driving by a mobile home dealer Nicole
told Mommy "If you have a camper, you're just like a turtle."
4/20/98, Monday - Learning how to
read
It's exciting to watch Nicole learn how to read. On Saturday she learned
how to spell Dad and Mom. I didn't know if she would retain
that knowledge until last night when I was about to brush her teeth, I heard
her spelling the words to herself. Practicing, I guess. She's also asking
lots of questions about what things say. The other day in the store she asked
me what a word on a sign said. She asked "What's that word that starts with
'A'". "Appliances" I respond. "And what's that word that ends in 'E'". "It
says 'Home'".
4/14/98, Tuesday
We went to the park a couple days ago. It's very large and has beautiful
bike trails. Nicole rode her bike more than ever and really enjoyed it.
The kids had no less than four easter egg hunts this weekend. Nicole was
very good at helping Christopher collect eggs.
4/8/98, Wednesday
Nicole got very sick yesterday. Fever over 103 with bad headache and
sore, stiff neck. She was telling Mommy how tired she was by saying
"My legs are wiggly". One time last night when she woke up hurting
she told me "My head is boring". I don't know why she said it
like that, but she meant that her head hurt pretty badly. Mommy is
taking her to the doctor today. We're praying she gets well very quickly.
4/7/98, Tuesday -
Nicole's Bike
Our weather has been beautiful, so we've been outside a lot. Nicole is getting
good enough on her bike now to ride it without my running beside her (over
protective father?). I do catch up to her at the corners. She still tends
to either head straight or try to take the corner too fast and tip over.
It's excellent exersize now to follow her around the block. We have a
"straight-away" that's three blocks long and she can really pick up the speed.
We got a new swing set and we've hired a man to set it up today. It's a larger
wooden set that should endure Nicole's activities much better.
4/2/98, Thursday
Mathew
came over to play with Nicole yesterday. Mom told them all about April
Fools day and they thought it sounded neat. They were going around
the house, jumping out yelling "April Fools!". Then Nicole colored
some April Fools pictures. She made a face with eyes in the wrong place
and too many of them. She also put hair all around the face. She
did another face and covered it up with hair. All for April Fools. |
