EVOLUTION EXAMINEDDid higher organisms evolve from lower forms of life? While this is at first glance a question for science, it has religious implications. This page links to documents and other Web sites that address this question. I could be described as an old earth creationist. I believe that the fossil record shows a trend toward increasingly more complex life forms over a period of millions of years. But I do not believe that evolution occurred. Natural selection and mutation are incapable of producing higher forms of life, only slight variations in pre-existing types or basic kinds of plants and animals. As a Christian, I have revelation from the Bible that life arose through the direct creation of God. I disagree with those Christians who insist that Adam was created in a perfect world with no death. The fossil record indicates that animal predation and death from cataclysm have occurred since time immemorial. This dilemma is easily resolved if we consider the possibility that Satan, the first of God's created beings, fell from Heaven to Earth at the dawn of time millions of years ago. Developing this theory further, in succeeding ages, Satan was at work to induce death and disaster to God's creation, but God created new orders of life over the ages, each one higher than the previous order, as a result, thwarting Satan's destructions. Adam and Eve were God's ultimate weapon to redeem creation. Eden was a beachhead of sinless perfection in God's plan to redeem the world once and for all from the grip of death and disorder. Those familiar with the Genesis account know that mankind fell as a result of Adam's fall from grace, but God set the stage for a yet greater work of redemption. Mankind and creation will be cleansed and perfected through the atoning death of Jesus, the Messiah of Israel. The process is beginning already, but all creation is awaiting the great change that will transpire upon HIS appearing. Some are uncomfortable with a mixture of biology and theology such as found in this essay, but I contend that creation and Creator are impossible to discuss separately. What does the fossil record show? Did birds evolve from reptiles? Talk origins FAQ (creation) Frequently asked questions answered from an "old earth" creation viewpoint. The best article I have come across on this issue. Cracks in the wall - Scientists speak out about evolution. Some of my sources are drawn from articles written by those with a recent creation perspective. Much of the evidence is neutral to the issue of the age of the earth, so I include everything that helps add clarity to the discussion.
