The Big American Southwest Activity Book
by Walter D. Yoder
A children's activity workbook, this text covers a wide range of subjects related to Arizona'a history, people, landscape, geology. There are numerous pages of "to do" activities such as coloring, drawing, word games, puzzles. Additionally, each topic covered discusses that subject (a mini lesson) before the child attempts to carry out the activity. The entire book is in black-and-white format so that the child can see the page come to life after completing the coloring assignments. I would recommend this book for children in approximately 4-6th grades, because the directions and words used within the text are above beginning reader level. This could definitely be used as a "rainy day" or "sick day" type activity book.
