Mt Democrat – Lincoln

The following is an extremely brief summary of a fun day in the mountains.
I didn’t have any idea how long these three mountains would take to hike,
but they turned out to be very easy to complete in one day (just over three
hours, car to car). It was a nice day and there were very few people out
for such a popular destination. I took some pics, which I plan to scan
and include later…
Kite Lake 0:00 No permits. No money. Truck overheating.
Democrat 1:02 Cake walk (~8 people)
Cameron
Lincoln 1:56 Cool, smaller summit (3 other people) Caught up with some
guy from denver near the summit. He said that he thought he was going fast
til he saw me.
Bross 2:32 Very big summit (3 other people). Glissade down gulley using
ice axe as a brake / run down scree
Kite Lake 3:01 Filled radiator with water from Kite Lake. It took almost
a gallon of water…
Hardest part was driving the truck with heater on full blast to keep
it from overheating.
Ran down a lot of the downhills and some of the flat sections. |
