• Manfred G. Ottinger was born in Germany and immigrated to Montreal in the 1950s with his family. Early on, Manfred demonstrated his passion for art by sketching portraits and caricatures of teachers and school mates.

• Later he pursued Fine Arts at John Abbot College in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec, fine-tuning his skills and focusing on portraits, and watercolors.

• Faces have always fascinated Manfred - especially those which show evidence of having weathered the storms of life. Not satisfied in merely duplicating, he probes his subjects to reveal their inner nature.

• He lives in Quebec with his family and teaches at Lasalle Senior School.
