Video games have changed immensely over the past years. It felt like just yesterday when I was playing the 4-bit Atari 2600 and 7800. Then the 8-bit era of Nintendo and Sega. Later the bits double to 16 for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. A few months later the bits double again to 32 for Sega (Saturn) and new comer Sony (PlayStation). Bits double as usual as Nintendo goes all out with the Ultra 64 (Nintendo 64) along with Atari's Jaguar (which might I add just vanished out in the video game race!). How many more bits and systems will we have to see! Soon the games I just got for the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation will turn to dust just like my other 1985 video games in the storage room or even end up in FuncoLand! I say, the best overall system is the PC. Why? Simple, what can a console do that a PC can't with a graphx card? Sure that consoles offer more of a wide variety of selections in terms of games, but also consoles don't have the wide selections of FPS (first person shooters), and other cool games that you don't see on consoles. So what is my conclusion to this brief overview? Easy, buy a PC and have atleast one home console, then you don't have nothing to worry about. q=)

Action Quake

This is perhaps my most favorite MOD ever! Totally different game from the rest of FPS. Action Quake allows the players to render other players with the body shots. When hit in any areas of the body, the player starts to bleed and needs to bandage himself to keep from bleeding to death. Players also get hit in the leg causing limp. The best feature of Action Quake is the head shots. 1 shot in the head and down you go! Weapons (Glock, Shotgun, Sniper rifle) and items (Vests, Grenades, ammo)selection is pretty basic. The most handy option is that not only can you carve your opponent with the knive, but you can actually toss it at someone too! Also the use of Dual Glocks (My personal fav!) is a plus making giving you the feel of Chow Yun Fat baby!

Jedi Knight

My favorite PC game so far is the Dark Forces series. I was happy that LucasArts made a game using the Doom and Wolfenstein 3d look for the game. Dark Forces uses the weapons that rebels and the empire uses just like the movie. Even the music from John Williams is in the game as well! But that's not all! Dark Forces 2:Jedi Knight utilizes Force powers and the lightSaber! A dream come true for a long time fan of Star Wars! There's no other games out there that utilizes this Jedi weapon. The Force Powers also come in handy as well!

If you have Jedi Knight, then you must get Jedi Knight:Mysteries of the Sith too! It's the adapter pack full of companion missions and new force powers and a new character named Mara Jade from the Star Wars book "Heir to the Empire". There's also a new feature where you can taunt the player when you kill him, or when you get killed! What's also fun is that you can join the zone where all players who have the JK, or MOTS game can play in multiplayer over the net. Files of new player skins, levels, weapons, and force, are available to play on single games, or multi games on the internet. Check out -QT Humor to see some funny Star Wars downloads.

Quake 2

Another great game to play is the Quake series. ID software is definitely a fan favorite! From Wolfenstein, Doom, and to Quake comes Quake 2. Quake 2 has that mindless killing, but non-stop action in the game. Quake 2 offers big guns, big bad guys, and big levels. The game (if you have the right video card) has big graphics too! Like the Jedi Knight series, you can also download patches and skins for this game for multiplayer fun. The only bad thing missing is there are no taunts like Jedi Knight. I don't like Quake 2 as much as I like Jedi Knight because Quake 2 is nothing but mindless mayhem of killing and offers not as much (even though the monsters AI are highter) stratedgy as Jedi Knight, but the multiplayer in Quake 2 makes up for it and are good times! Overall I still like this game and is a must buy for those who don't have it!

My Rantings: No negatives in this game, ping not a factor, some good wholesome fun with this game!

EverQuest

The very first RPG that i've played on my PC. Like an RPG, EQ lets the user pick from the many races and classes ranging from the usual sword warrior to the magic wielding druid. EQ allows players to build and use trade skills such as smithing, pottery, fletching, and even baking for those long journeys. There are also quests that players can do allowing the player to venture the lands of Norrath. Unlike other RPGs on small consoles (PSX and N64), you can interact with others on the internet as well whether it be grouping to help increase levels, or just being a regular player killer looking for other players to fight against.

My ranting: This game should be called EVERCAMP! with the increase number of players playing in the servers, it's impossible to solo alone thus although i don't abide to it, lead to a bit of steal killing.

Half-Life (Counter Strike MOD)

Story of this game is brief, one team of counter terrorists go against terrorists or vice versa. The goal of the CT's are basically to chase the terrorists and save hostages. The goals of T's are to fend off the CT's. Money is earned when killing, or saving hostages. Much like Starsiege Tribes, Counter Strike involves players to utilize the method of buying weapons (MP5, Shotguns, Sniper rifles, etc) ammo, and Items (Con grenades, Kevlar vests, night vision gogles).

My Rantings: Some of the things to encounter in the world of Half-Life = LPBs (Low Ping Bastards), and cheaters (trying to make themselves stronger to take more hits).
