Belldandy is a goddess working at the Relief Goddess Office in Heaven. She is a first class goddess, second category, with unlimited license. As a child she had came down to earth where she met Morisato Keiichi. They became great friends, and for a week played together. Then she made a promise to Keiichi that she , as a goddess who must always get promises and wishes approved, couldn't keep. She was forced to wipe his memory of the events that occured while she was with him. Before leaving back to Heaven, she prayed that Keiichi would one day remember her and the events that took place during the week they were together as children. About ten years later the story begins with Belldandy coming to earth to grant Keiichi a wish. For those who haven't seen Ah! My Goddess yet, I hope I haven't ruined it for you!
