Kurai-Jin

Those who dwell in the mountains of Kurai do so, not for solitude, not because they dislike the other races, but to train themselves, to reach a higher spiritual awareness.  In a way the Kurai-Jin are priests of the martial art, no one understands the true beauty of the fight as the monks of Kurai do.
It was said that many eons ago there was a race of people so weak that even the most menial of task would tire them, oft times the peoples of this race which had no name would fall asleep standing up.  One wise man who had no name, seeing the carnage wrought by the stronger races around them decided upon a course of action.
He embarked upon a quest of learning into the mountains of Kurai sorinth of the Dengar woods, there atop the highest peak in the blistering cold with only a single frayed cloak for protection he awaited either inspiration or death.  He survived for five days without food and little water, on the sixth day he was prepared to be received by death when the light of wisdom shone upon him.
He realized that for six straight days he had lived without food or shelter, it seemed the mountains themselves had great power and somehow he had tapped into that power, with great joy he decided to stay and learn more of what the mountains of Kurai had to teach him, in time he came to understand the true workings of nature and how to draw its great power into his weak body, though he did not notice it he spent three hundred years mastering this technique, when he finally returned to his people many things had changed, in an attempt to protect themselves they had become a warlike race bent on protecting their borders from raiders.
They laughed when the wise old man spoke to them of the new way of life he had discovered in the mountains of Kurai, but a few did listen, those who knew that no matter how ferocious they became if the other races stopped their quarreling they would crush them.
Taking ten men and women the nameless one returned to the mountains of Kurai, after a short moment of meditation he decided to name himself Koran, he then sent scouts back to their old home to find out what had happened, his worst fears had come to pass, the other races, tired of tolerating the nameless savages, fell upon them and destroyed them.

Now known as the Kurai-Jin they have become masters of fighting, being in tune with the Ki of the riding wave, the energies of the universe, has changed them physically.  Kurai-Jin are incredibly flexible and can perform great feats of strength that are almost impossible for the other races.
The current undisputed Guru (Leader) of both Kurai-Jin societies is Koran XXIII a kindly old man who was an accomplished fighter in his younger days and is respected for his wisdom.

There are two societies within the Kurai-Jin, the only real difference is in the way they fight and the principles they live by.  The Kurai-Jin are the most numerous, their fighting styles are hard and fast teaching strength, speed and accuracy above all else.  They have a very strict concept of honor they call Bushido (The way of the warrior.)  They need this system because the Kurai-Jin would anger easily if not for Bushido, but eons of training have helped them control themselves.
Principles of Bushido
Honor is everything.  Dishonor is a fate worse then death and is punishable by death.  If one has dishonored himself the only way to regain honor is to perform Sepukku.  (Honorable suicide.)
Patience is a virtue.  The patient man is the strong man.  A Kurai-Jin will wait hours in battle for his opponent to strike first for the man who strikes first is weaker.

The less numerous Wan-Kurai aren't as strict on the subject of honor.  They believe that no set system of rules will dictate how a person behaves, if that person is truly worthy they won't do anything inappropriate, those who do are cast out.
The Wan-Kurai's martial arts and softer and more precise, but extremely fast and just as deadly as the styles of the Kurai-Jin.
While the Kurai-Jin believe in constantly attacking with all your energy until your opponent is unable to continue, the Wan-Kurai are slowly gathering energy at all times when they fight and when they so choose they release it in one devastating blow that is almost sure to fell your opponent.
They also have perfected techniques with allow them to use their enemies energy against them.
However tradition is important to them as well, they honor and care for their parents and pray at shrines each day for their ancestors.  The Wan-Kurai's styles teach discipline and stamina.

Both the Kurai-Jin and the Wan-Kurai are known for taking in young children from other races and raising them as their own.  Teaching them their ways and the art of fighting.  Many of the greatest fighters on Realm have been trained by the Kurai-Jin.  Contrary to common belief the Kurai-Jin do have females of their species but they don't venture out into the world much.

Nickname:  Jolly Green Jerks.

Character Creation:  Kurai-Jin prefer purely physical stats focusing on their strength and endurance.  Most of them specialize in speed and power.  A good idea would be to create a character who is a traveling fighter searching the world for worthy opponents.
The Wan-Kurai rely heavily on physical and mental stats, they believe that building up the mind as well as the body will empower them further.  Consequently they are masters of Psi Skill.
Most Wan-Kurai choose not to leave Kurai but those who do go on great fight quests much like their cousins the Kurai-Jin.

Appearance:  All Kurai-Jin are tall and well built with a greenish cast to their light skin.  The men prefer to either shave their heads or wear their hair in one long scalp lock or a large braid.  The women let their hair go unmolested through out life so it grows very long and they either coif it in a bun or let it down.  Some few warrior women keep their hair shoulder length so it is manageable.
All Kurai-Jin also have stronger lower bodies and thinner upper bodies because they believe all power come from the legs.  Hair is almost always black.

Starting stats:  Kurai-Jin: 3 in Ability Points, 8 in Willpower and 8 in Anger.
Wan-Kurai: 8 in Ability Points, 8 in Willpower and 3 in Anger.
Both receive 15 freebie points during generation.

Life Span: 500

Weakness: Kurai-Jin: Besides a rampant streak of arrogance, (Don't bring that up in conversation if you value your health.) They let loose all their power in a fight extremely fast and they have little stamina.  Willpower role difficulty 8 to resist blasting your opponent into insensibility within the first few seconds.
Wan-Kurai: They don't have the sense to back out of a fight when they should and they have much pride.  Willpower roll difficulty 8 to resist a challenge.
