Dwarves
The children of Draxar, short and stocky like their god, though powerful fighters and the most skilled of metal smiths and smelt masters. Dwarves excel at all types of craftsmanship, from metal smithing to wood carving, Dwarves are also amongst the most fiercest of fighters ever to be found upon Realm.
Long ago the Dwarves were one of the most respected
races on Realm, their weapons were sought by the most powerful of nobles,
for the steel they wrought was of the strongest and purest to be found
beneath the earth. But then the Elves, sending a politely written
threat, stateing that if the Dwarves didn't open up their mountain Kingdom
and share their riches with the Elves then their would be war.
All Dwarves have short fuses and bad tempers, so you don't need me
to tell you the response.
They attacked first! Allied with the humans of Sorinthern Kuso,
they marched across the twin mountains Tarmash and Darmash reaching the
Dengar woods.
Then the woods stretched across most of Norinthern Kuso, but the Humans,
armed with Dwarven steel took to axe and hacked down anything that got
in their way, be it Elves, tree's, or villages.
In a month they reached the capital of the Elven empire, Karnish, they
were greeted by Kal'Ann himself, the emperor. He asked that the war
be stopped and that the Dwarven and Human armies recede, with his apologies.
The Human and Dwarf leaders held conference alone, General Dekar wanted
to continue the fight, he had lost his wife and children to the Elven slavers,
but King Forgefire
was a man of honor, satisfied with the heartfelt apology of Emperor
Kal'Ann, Forgefire and his Dwarves returned to Sorinthern Kuso after signing
a treaty with the Elves.
General Dekar continued to assault the Elven capital, his army was
wiped from the plane.
After witnessing such a fate as the Humans had, Forgefire
decided that trusting the Elves word of honor was about as wise as trusting
a Woodsprite not to steal. When they reached their mountain home
of Draxxar (The tallest mountain on Realm.) they immediately began working
on turning it into an impenetrable fortress. With all the Dwarves
of Draxxar working at all times the great project was completed in 3 months.
The result: DRAXXAN. A huge vertical fortress with no windows
and only one way in from the outside. . .up! There are many more
entrances, and exits from Draxxan, secret underground passageways that
lead into the fields of Death, a small localized desert that is unnatural.
The lands, as well as the mountain, were transformed to aid in protecting
the Dwarven Kingdom, the inside of Draxxan is a wonder of modern construction.
There are exactly 2,000 levels in all, 1,000 above ground and another thousand
below the surface, each level is 500 gegs across and 300 gegs high, the
whole Dwarven nation lives inside this one tower, the magnificent city
is run on a tight schedule of clock work, lined throughout the stone corridors
of each level are veins of quartz, these all connect to a huge quartz globe
at the summit of the tower, with the power of solar energy it throbs gently
throughout the city, barely perceptible twitches for seconds, little more
for a minute, and a good pulsing throb for hours, a gong is sounded at
the beginning and end of each day.
6 Elite soldiers stand guard at all hours over the quartz sphere, Draxxar
knows what havoc would be wreaked if the crystal was ever broken.
The current High King of Draxxan is a stuborn close minded man called
Darwik, he has made a theory which base beliefs state that the weak are
meant to die and the strong survive to breed a better race. Consequently
his people aren't fond of him.
Nickname: Rolly Polly
Character Creation: Dwarves all favor Strength attributes, and
perhaps under other trait smithing skill. Dwarves make excellent
fighters and are geniuses when it comes to engineering, but they have trouble
dealing with people in general. Dwarves also have a natural resistance
to magick of all types, this comes in handy but its also a curse, only
Dwarven clerics may learn magickal spells.
Minus 2 on all rolls to inflict a Dwarf with magick.
Appearance: Small and round sums it up pretty close to the mark, most Dwarves don't reach past 4 feet tall but the tallest in history was exactly 5' 1", all Dwarves sport long thick beards that are usually worn in plated braids or combed out to full length and tucked into the belt.
Starting Stats: A 3 in Ability Points, a 4 in Willpower Points
and 2 Anger Points.
They get 15 freebies to use while generating.
Life Span: 900 years.
Weakness: Besides a strange desire for strong drink Dwarves feel
out of place, and out of sorts when around too many people that aren't
Dwarven. Also Dwarves feel more at home in the mountains or near
the earth, Dwarves despise forests and open sky, especially when thousands
of feet of open sky are beneath them. Minus 2 to all stats until
a more comfortable place is found.
