01/08/04 Athens was like a madhouse. The "Athens 2004 Olympic games" fever was already there. Bulding works everywhere and the thermometer going up to 38 degrees Celsius. Under these circumstances what would be better than visiting an island?

A weekend away to a Greek island sounds really cool. Though, when this island is Samos there is a price: you should go to the harbour under the bright sun and take the slowest ship on the planet. Then you have to cruise for 14 hours among Aegean islands.In the end you may reach samos at about 8 o'clock in the morning if you are lucky. After that things go easier. Swimming at "Potami" beach with George and Kostas was the first thing to do Unfortunately, things went pear-shaped because of the weather turning bad and the sea becoming rough. We met again in the evening for a drink this time in the open-air club "Samos Paradiso"..
The next day, since the weather was better, my brother, my uncle and myself went for spear fishing. The result was rather disappointing despite diving in quite deep waters. An evening at the basketball courts was the best way to close this rather eventful weekend in Samos. When i woke up the following day it was time to go and catch my plane back to Athens.
