To play Action Quake 2 you will need :

- Quake 2 game installed on your PC

- Quake 2 upgrade to at least version 3.20

- "Client" file

- Maps ( depending on the servers in which you will paly )

- Server

You can also use :

- Gamespy

- Game Launcher

There are many maps available for download, but you will need only those that the server you want to play uses.

Please visit my MAPS option in the main Page to download maps.

    Servers

There are many ACQ2 servers. I think all countries have at least one, but if your country doesn´t have one you can play in a foreign server ( but it probably be slower unless u have a fast connection to the net )

    There are two ways to get to the server :

   -  Through Quake 2 itself. Enter Quake 2 and press " \ "

Then type "connect number of the server", if you already know the server number.

   -  Through Gamespy which is a server provider program, quite easy to use.

OR

Gamespy instructions :

1 º  go to the menu and select "Gamespy", then "games and filters"

2º Select Quake 2

3º Go to the menu and select "update all sources"

Then you will have to wait.......

4º A list of servers appear at your right

5º Select an ACTION QUAKE 2 SERVER and play!!

Attention - in that same list most of the servers are Quake 2 servers. Search for ACQ2 in server description.

    GameLauncher

    It´s a program that can be used with Gamespy.

It will allow the user to choose a nick name, to select game controls etc.

BUT I don´t recommend it, I prefer to create a  File with does instructions.
