Law and Order
In an as yet untouched by battle section of Khazan park, Officer John
Hart arrived not in a ring of fire but in a swirling blue vortex, ala
Sliders. The first thing he did was check his MPS (multiversial
positioning system) to find out what plane he had just landed himself
in. He was shocked to read the word 'Khazan.'
To his dimension traveling people, Khazan was a barely whispered legend.
They had discovered Khazan in one of their first multiversial jumps. It
was hard to miss. It was the plane right in the center of the multiverse.
The problem was that it was like a black hole. A lot of beings from many
other dimensions were sucked into Khazan on a regular basis, but very
few of them were able to get back again. His people were able to put up
a block around their dimension, keeping their own people safe.
They also forbade travel to that plane, but Officer John Hart,
multiversial cop, had special dispensation, for he was tracking the most
dangerous criminal in the multiverse, also the only mage to ever escape
from an Anarchy Lad Zero built jail (let's just say that, when you're
that good at your job, people will call you whatever you want them to
call you. It's an anagram of his real name). By order of the Czar of
America, John Hart left his wife and son and went to bring this criminal
to justice. Since John was the best, and the suit he was given was
capable of withstanding any magical attacks and all physical attacks
short of an atomic bomb, the mission should have only taken a couple of
days to complete. It had been 6 months and countless worlds now, and he
was getting homesick.
"One way or another, Z-mage, this ends tonight." he said to
the empty air around his suit.
Suddenly there was a crash as Poison Ivy was knocked through the plant
life, unconscious. John powered up his defensive shields and energized
his hand mounted blast cannons and, ignoring Ivy. Since she was neither
his quarry nor trying to kill him at the time, she wasn't his concern.
As he turned in the direction she came from, he saw aliens coming
towards him. There was no mistaking their intentions, they were out for
blood, his blood if they could have it. Nothing doing.
He let loose with the blast cannons. The first shot completely
obliterated all the aliens in front of him. Turning on his tracker (a
device that would narrow down the exact location of the Z-mage within a
day) he began to plow through the aliens to the place which his device
said the Z-mage was most likely to be found in.
He ignored all the other carnage going on around him, only blasting when
the aliens came near him. Any needless fighting would only serve to keep
him away from his wife and son, and they were more important than
anybody else around him.
The suit was skin-tight and enhanced his speed and reflexes, so he had
no problem dodging through to get a better handle on the Z-mage's
whereabouts. As far as he was concerned, the rest of the multiverse can
take care of itself.
Off to his side, he saw a young blonde girl wearing a red costume and
with a bow and arrow set trying her hardest to defeat three aliens.
Officer Hart tried to focus on his device's scan of the Z-mage's
whereabouts, but he kept having his attention drawn to the girl, who was
beginning to fail. He finally couldn't fight it anymore. He swore and
leapt into the fray. Deftly leaping over the girl, he landed a metal
boot in the middle of one of the faces of one of the aliens, which
promptly shattered. He grabbed the other two aliens and activated the
force field on his suit, and fried the two remaining aliens.
"So," he said, while he helped the girl back up, "Are you
Ok Miss?"
"Arrowette," she said "You can call me Arrowette. Thank
you, I don't know what I'd have done withou-"
"Don't think about that right now," Officer Hart interrupted,
"I was here, that's all that mattered. Let's get you some place
safe, Miss Arrowette."
"No, you can't take me someplace safe right now, we need to get rid
of these aliens anyway we can. We can still go on," She said.
"We?" John stammered, "Who's we?"
At this point, he decided to interrupt the Z-mage scan in order to turn
on his long range sensors. There were a lot of other fights going on,
but the aliens didn't seem to be coming into this alley to replace their
fallen numbers. As the fights finished up, the winners began coming
towards them in this alley.
Arrowette gestured towards the winners who were approaching, who seemed
to comprise every preteen hero and a large part of the teen hero
population of the entire multiverse.
"This is who 'we' is. This is Young Justice."
