Z-Mage Vs. DeMonStar -- In Limbo

DeMonStar floated in Limbo as he confronted the brat Z-Mage.  “Well now, child, you wish to fight me.  May I ask why?”

“You know damn well the reason!” Z-Mage spat out.  “If you haven’t tipped off the majority of Khazan’s heroes to me, I would have been left alone to my work!”

“Ah yes, your work.  You were going to destroy Khazan and warp all of Reality, were you?”

“Clever beast.  You think you figured me out, don’t you?”

“All I don’t know is why you’ve been warping the Multiverse.  I would like to know now.”

“Silence!  You dare command me, the Z-Mage!” Z-Mage yelled as he pointed his sword at DeMonStar.  “The time for talk is over!  Now you die!”  With that, he unleashed an energy blast at DeMonStar.

DeMonStar knew that Z-Mage would attack first, and prepared himself for it.  As he saw the blast, he used his Bio-Armor’s boosters to easily dodge the bolt of energy.  He then charged towards the mad wizard.

Z-Mage brought his sword on DeMonStar, only to hear it ‘clang’ off his armored arm.  He then heard a ‘thwack’ and felt sharp pain as DeMonStar’s metallic fist punched him in the jaw.  Uttering a minor spell to make him imperious to any further pain, Z-Mage flew off to gain distance to lay down some of his more powerful magics.

DeMonStar nursed his arm.  Although it was armored, Z-Mage’s magic sword still hurt him.  DeMonStar knew that he’d have to use his main weapon, his wits, against the mage.

As Z-Mage threw Blasts of Devastation, he heard DeMonStar call out as he dodged his inevitable fate.  “Z-Mage, tell me why you’ve been warping reality!”

“Why do you want to know?  Is that your last request?”

“You might say that.”

“Simple.  By changing reality, I’ve been affecting my past.  Something, rather unpleasant, is going to happen to me in the future, and I’m going to stop it!”

“All of your efforts warping Reality, just to keep yourself alive.”  DeMonStar spoke.  “If you’re the great, all-powerful Z-Mage, couldn’t you just make a spell to make yourself immortal?”

“You think I haven’t tried!  Fate is fate, and unless I change mine, I’m stuck with the knowledge that my future will be brief.  However, with changing my bleak destiny, I can truly become immortal, and rule all the Multiverse!”

DeMonStar started to chuckle.  “So, for all your pomp and power, you’re just a vain whelp of a boy with delusions of grandeur and frightened by the fact that you can’t control your own mortality.”

Z-Mage grew red with rage.  “You have the gall to mock me, DeMonStar!  Why, I’m damn sure that you’d be ready to take over Khazan if I weren’t here!”

“You’re wrong, boy.  I couldn’t care less about Khazan.  I don’t want to bother with ruling anything.  All I want is to evolve more, to become a perfect being.  And if your efforts to mess with the reality continuum affect my evolution, then you must be stopped.”

“You’re not perfect from where I’m standing, red menace.  In fact, you’re almost about to die!”

“Another difference between us, child.  You don’t think about any consequences, you just act on impulse.”

“If my impulses result in your painful death, then so much the better!  How dare you talk down to me!”  Z-Mage bellowed as he loosed another valley of death blasts at DeMonStar.

DeMonStar just barely evaded the last blast.  He had to end this fight soon.  “I talk to you because I know that you are my inferior, Z-Mage.  A true equal wouldn’t have given me the opportunity to do all that I’ve done.”

“What’s that?  Prattling on, bragging about how smart you are!”

“No, Z-Mage.  I’ve been analyzing you, looking for weaknesses.  Let me show my progress.”  With that, DeMonStar quickly bolted to the sorcerer and attacked.

“I’ve learned that in your present stare, you cannot use your more destructive spells at such a close range.” DeMonStar spoke as he leveled punches and kicks at Z-Mage.

Z-Mage, raising spells to increase his strength and stamina, returned the favor and fought back against the alien.  “It doesn’t matter how I kill you, it’s just that I get the job done!”

“Here’s another thing I’ve learned about you,” DeMonStar continued as they fought, “I’ve noticed all those totems and items on yourself.  I’m hypothesizing that they are the sources of your power, and without them, you’re just another mundane being.  Let me test this.”  DeMonStar then reached for the Eye of Odin.

Z-Mage shrieked as he felt the powers of the Eye tear at him as DeMonStar tried to remove the Eye, his Eye, from Z-Mage.  Z-Mage, realizing that without his Eye he would be weakened significantly, perhaps even killed, summoned a blast of energy and blasted DeMonStar in the face.

DeMonStar bellowed in pain as he grasped his smoking face.  Z-Mage took the opportunity to quickly fly away form the yelling creature.  After he got some throwing room, he turned and got ready to blast the bastard into Hell.

DeMonStar’s held his hand on the half of his face that took the brunt of the blast.  He hurt, and he didn’t know if his eye was damaged.  He felt anger well up in himself, and though he tried to deny himself emotions, he decided to let the anger stay to controllable levels in order to punish the whelp.

They faced each other across the void, the weakened sorcerer and the injured alien, each waiting for the other to make their move.
