Out of the frying pan, into the
fire
The Magus looked on from his control room deep in the heart of War
World. On Khazan, his forces had begun their assault again, despite the
interfereance of this being his sources had identified as DeMonStar. And
what was the cause of these constant spikes of mystical energy that he
was picking up? The mystical energy was on a low bandwidth, yet when
examined closer, it almost seemed as if they were being caused by a mage
or sorcerrer, one with enough power to annihlate Khazan. However, such
things were unimportant. The egg was ready, its energies had charged and
soon, they would be released in a burst down the dimensional corridor,
causing a blast that would be magnified through time and space,
destroying everything.
Meanwhile, the door to Magus' control room opened. The Magus turned to
see his servant, the Thanos doppelganger walk into the room. Seeming as
if to not notice the presence of his servant, the Magus instead turned
to his prize captive, Superman.
"I wonder Kryptonian, wheather or not it is within the grasp of
your mind to truely apprecaite the grand phenominon that you are about
to witness. In a moment, time and space will be brought to an end. But
War World will remain, protected by the Cosmic Egg. Truely, not since
the so called Zero Hour, where you heroes did battle the former Green
Lantern known as Parallax has such an event transpired. You are
witnessing the end of everything, and the begining of a nightmare that
few in the multiverse could comprehend, save for myself."
Superman wanted to respond. He wanted to think that the heroes down on
battling Khazan would come to his aide, but the view screens in the room
showed otherwise. Khazan's heroes had either gathered in the Hall of
Justice planning their next move, or were on the streets, fighting off
the countless alien soldiers.
As the Magus moved to a control pannal, he felt a large hand touch him
on the shoulder. He turned to see that it was the hand of his servant,
the Thanos doppelganger.
"Fool, unhand me. Vile creature, I have no use for you
anymore."
"Then it is quite fortuante for you that I have already disposed of
your genetic disgrace. Such a clumbsy creature, hardly worthy of a true
madman. Yet, you are really no madman, just a fool for attempting to
disturb the universe that Thanos of titan calls home."
A dark fear swelled up inside the Magus as he realized that he was
starring not at his servant, but at the one true Thanos. The Magus
reacted, swating Thanos away from him as he frantically worked the
controls in front of him, trying desperatly to set the Cosmic Egg off.
However, Thanos recovered too quickly. As Thanos exteneded his arm,
Superman could not help but watch as a beam of energy left the titan's
hand and hit the Magus, deep frying his head to a crisp. Thanos then
moved to the control pannal and hit a few buttons, releasing the Man of
Steel from his force cage.
"So, now you are playing the role of a hero," Superman
asked with a distrusting tone towards the titan.
"Hardly, as I said Kryptonian, I seek only to perserve the
Universe that is my home. Nothing more."
Before Superman could even question the titan's true motives, the
control pannal began to light up. Something was wrong, the harmonics of
the Cosmic Egg were still building. Without saying a word to each other,
Thanos and Superman worked frantically at the control pannal, trying to
stop the Cosmic Egg.
"It is some kind of fail safe that must have been desgined by
the Magus in case anything went wrong," thought Superman to
himself. He assumed that Thanos had already made the same conclusion
already. Yet as the two worked feverantly, they soon learned that it was
too late. The egg had unleashed it's raw power, yet the universe did not
end. Instead something worse happened. Thanos had managed to disabble
the equipment that the Magus had used to transmit the egg's raw power
into the dimensional rift. Now, with nowhere to go, the enerrgy of the
cosmic egg began to unstablize time and the dimensions.
On Khazan, the time shift had already begun. As the heroes continued
their battle against War World soldiers, the streets began to fill up
with new enemies and villains from across time and space. Nazi soliders
filled the street alongside T-800 terminator droids. Countless star
fleet ensigns wearing red shirt style uniforms began skirmishing with
white armored Imperial storm troopers. Demons from the Hells of six
different dimensions came to the streets to satisfy their eternal lust
for human flesh. Mutants and warriors from the Age of Apocalypse began
to fill the streets as well, targeting the genetic 'half-scans' at the
order to their lord and master En Sabah Nur, known to the world as the
mutant Apocalypse. Medievil warriors and knights from centuries ago
suddenly appeared to continue their battles in the cities around the
world. Dozens of different races of Martains, all supposedly coming from
the red planet Mars launched their indivdual invasions on the planet
earth. All at once, dozens of ancient creatures, all of whom were
supended in a state of animation awakened and began terrozing cities
around the world. And the ninjas, the NINJA's, they were EVERYWHERE.
As Thanos watched this from the control room, he knew this was only
the begining. All of these different people and places flowing from one
point in the time stream to another was causing a strain on the time
line. Soon, it would not be long before time became hoplessly lost. Time
would have no meaning, people and places would be transported through
time at random. These beings were all symptoms of a larger problem, a
problem that, if not solved, would bring about the end of Khazan.
