Of Arsenic And Old Lace, Part Two

In the lecture hall next to the Chat Room, Jack Tango stood on a platform with a podium, preaching to the masses. The audience was enthralled, as if they were listening to one of Slick's stories. Indeed, Slick had co-written Jack Tango's speech.

Jack Tango preached the gospel of hard work and kindness, especially if you happened to be somebody's mother. "You tell 'em!" yelled Wolvie*s Girlfriend from the audience. After the sermon, she would be in charge of providing pamphlets to all in attendance for more information about Jack's Cult.

In the background, however, unseen forces were at work. The forces were unseen because they were hiding behind the curtains. Fly on the wall and Jade Dragon had been staging a coup for quite some time now. No one knew of Jade Dragon's shapeshifting abilities. They knew he could change into a dragon, of course, but no one was aware he could transform into a dog. There, behind the curtain, the fly and the dog discussed their tactics.

Meanwhile, outside the lecture hall, the Golden Lion was handing out blue armbands to anyone who entered, telling them to wear them in honor of Empathy Week. "It's for a good cause!" he would announce. "Power to the Blue People!" He got a lot of funny looks from the congregation.

Papergirl entered the room, avoiding Golden Lion's eyes. She wasn't being mean or anything. She was just in a hurry. She arrived in time for the final words of the sermon. Jack Tango was finished.

The audience erupted with applause. Jack Tango reached down onto the podium for a glass of water which was positioned on top of a small doily. He drank a large gulp.

Suddenly he gasped for air and clutched at his throat! The audience gasped in shock! Jack Tango fell from the stage and into the audience below!
