Forbidden Paths - Magic

Each magic user in Forbidden Paths has the ability to master one of the five elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, or Spirit. The magic they control depends on their race and class. Note: Not all race/class combinations are magic users. See the characters page for additional information.

In the table below, the spell categories available for each magic type are listed under their corresponding element. The easiest to master are listed at the top, and the hardest at the bottom. Note: Should a novice magic user attempt to cast a difficult spell, the consequences may not turn out as expected!

The actual spells cast by magic users is up to the characters themselves. However, each spell must fall into one of the four categories listed below the element they manipulate. For example, the spell fireball would fall under the fire element and independent fire category.

Please see below for a basic description of each spell category.

Detect Evil
Allows the caster to sense that danger is near, from what direction it originates, whether or not a creature means them harm, etc.
Hide
Allows the caster to conceal himself and/or others using nature
Manipulate Environment
Allows the caster to control his natural surroundings (e.g. cause trees to bend, the ground to shake, walls of earth to form, etc.)
Earthen Attack
Allows the caster to manipulate the environment, and in turn, cause physical harm to a living creature
Wind
Allows the caster to control the flow of air (wind) in an area (e.g. increase/decrease its force, change its direction, etc.)
Illusion
Allows the caster to create an illusion around an object or in the air (Note: Creating an illusion around something is much easier than causing it to become invisible, or creating an illusion in "thin air")
Solidify Air
Allows the caster to cause a section of air to become solid and remain in its current position
Movable Solid
Allows the caster to cause a section of air to become solid and move it about (e.g. solidify air and cause it to hit a creature)
Augment Fire
Allows the caster to increase the temperature/volume of a pre-existing fire
Internal Fire
Allows the caster to cause an object to ignite (cannot be used on living creatures)
Independent Fire
Allows the caster to create fire out of "thin air" and propel it, if they wish
Living Fire
Allows the caster to summon a fire demon (Note: Inexperienced casters may not have full control over the demon they summoned)
Move Water
Allows the caster to move a portion of water from one place to another, or retain it in one place
Draw Water
Allows the caster to pull/draw water from any substance that contains any amount of water (except living creatures)
Create Water
Allows the caster to create water "from thin air" wherever they like
Healing
Allows the caster to revitalize a creature and/or heal bodily wounds (Note: It is rather ineffective for the caster to try and use healing spells on him/herself)
Communicate Living
Allows the caster to telepathically communicate with another living creature (either one or two-way communication)
Communicate Dead
Allows the caster to communicate with the dead (either good or dark angels, depending on the caster's class)
Cause Emotion
Allows the caster to cause a creature to experience an emotion (either good or bad, depending on the caster's class)
Summon Spirit
Allows the caster to summon either an Archangel or a Demon of the Underworld, depending on the caster's class (Warning: inexperienced casters may not have the control they would like over the Angel/Demon)
