By now, everyone knows that Katie and Josh Jackson used to date. That's all over now, but they're not bitter.

In fact, the two have remained the best of friends. "He's been in the business so long, and he's really helped me," she says. "I respect him as a friend and as a professional."

KH: As Pacey, Josh is charismatic and nice to be around. I think they're two qualities he carries over into real life.

Q: Who’s your best pal out of the Dawson’s cast?

KH: Probably Josh (Pacey). He’s a good listener and he’s helped me deal with this whole new life that I have. He’s been in this business for a while. He’s fun to be around and I have a lot of respect for him.

 

Q:You snog James Van Der Beek on screen, but is it true you went out with Joshua Jackson last year?

KH: I’m just going to say that I met somebody last year. I fell in love for the first time and it was something so incredible and indescribable that I will always treasure it. He’s now one of my best friends. It’s weird, it’s almost like a real-life Dawson-and-Joey type thing!

 

Q: Joshua Jackson once said you were going to be the next Meryl Streep.

KH: "Oh... he's a... that was very nice of him to say. I think he was a little off. You know I just want to continue to learn because there's just so much I don't know. And watching people like Cate and Michael and all these big movie stars, I always work to emulate them. I would love to be at that level one day, but it's one step at a time. It was very nice of Josh to say that, but I think he's crazy."

 

Q:Is it hard to work together now that you've broken up [with Joshua Jackson]?

KH: (Katie does her best imitation of calm.) "No. We're great friends. We did date. We fell in love. And I love him and now we have a friendship, which is nice. (She looks pointedly out the window.) So, isn't it pretty out today? (It's raining.)
