Arequipa

Arequipa is a beatiful city nestled in the valley of 3 volcanoes (only 1 is now active).

Santa Catalina Monastery

One of the big tourist attractions in Arequipa is the Santa Catalina Monastery, the monastery for rich Spanish girls where they had servants to do their cooking and cleaning and where our very rude tour guide thought we were all heathens desecrating her sacred monastery.

Colca Canyon

Our first llama sighting (or maybe it's an alpaca. I can't tell the difference)

A traditional home in the canyon. This is the kitchen. Guinea pigs (the national delicacy) live in the kitchen with the family until they are eaten.

A traditional Peruvian dance, put on for the locals. Those are men wearing the traditional male dancing costume on the left.

The reason everyone goes to the Colca Canyon -- to see the condors. We were lucky enough to see 14 that morning. They have a 3 metre wingspan.

Some pre-Inca terraces in the canyon.
