Little Gifts....August 30, 1999
The mysteriousness with which life works never ceases to amaze me. It is the process by which happenings fall in my lap when I need them the most that constantly serve to reinforce my spiritual convictions. Whether via Spirit Guides, Goddess, Gia, God, or The Almighty, whatever name you choose to employ in your beliefs, I am constantly amazed how things have a habit of taking care of themselves.
Usually, they are really important things.
I was out to see a social worker this afternoon at one of the First Nation Communities I contract with. I was hoping that a cheque with my name on it would be floating around on someone's desk for work that I had done the last two weeks. Reekie and Moo eat a lot, afterall, and I was flat broke. I was down to counting pennies in the penny jar...
...literally.
While it was indeed good fortune that there was some money waiting there for me, it is not that small miracle I am referring to in my opening. While I was there, I managed to have three new clients land in my lap, and no animal sacrifices were necessary.
Thank you, whomever.
Unlike the government and all their bureaucratic bullshit, especially when it comes to paying people their due, the First Nation Communities are able to pay me when I need it. All I have to do is submit an invoice. There is no waiting for six to eight weeks while the government justifies all the paper pushers on the payroll.
This means I amy be able to get through the wedding afterall. Better still, I may be able to squeak by another month without threats of car repossession. The bank is getting not too terribly nice about my always being a month in arrears. I am always petrified to look out one morning to see an empty driveway.
More pleasant news came today. Marrin left me a phone message to say that she is home from Ohio for vacation. One of my avid journal fans, and a great friend for many, many moons, I am definitely going to connect with her before she has to leave again.
*blush* Marrin was my first kiss *blush*.
Neither of us has many fond childhood memories. I am glad we share that one together. In that spirit, I am not going to write about it just yet.
I want it to stay just between us for a while longer.
....Blessed Be
