Quincy Returns....August 23, 1999
WELCOME HOME, QUINCY AND CO.!!!!
Yes, Quincy and the kids returned this morning from their excursion to Ontario. I was estatic, the dogs were elated. We three were all vying for her attention. I think Reekie and Moo won out, only because they have slurping down to a fine art.
Oh, Happy Day!
Her absence seemed to pass like two centuries as opposed to two weeks. I am happy she is finally home. I think she is, too. Her statement along the lines of never wanting to go back seem to be a pretty good indication.
Best of all, she brought me presents. She brought me a box of the most decadent sweets, next to cheesecake, known to man; at least known to this man. She brought me a box of Cinnabons. Cinnabon's cinnamon buns are the best of the like one will ever find. They are flaky, soft, chewy, slathered in cinnamon and sugar syrup, and ooze cream cheese frosting. One is never enough. Nor is two or three. Waistline be damned! I am going to be a hedonist.
Coincidentally, it is also Quincy's birthday. To celebrate the occasion, a good friend of her's went all out for her. She scoured Quincy's house while she was away, put up construction paper signs of warm return and happy birthday, bought a beautiful cake, and gave her the coolest mousepad I have ever seen; it is a South Park one.
Beware, Quincy, for I coveteth the mousepad!
My parents gave her a large crockpot, which really is a gift for the rest of us more than Quincy. I have frothing visions of stews, soups, spaghetti sauce, baked beans, and vegetarian chilli. I must make an honest effort to remain in Quincy's god graces, at least until the passing of harvest season.
Myself and the critters gave her a lime geranium to replace the one Moo made an afternoon snack out of a few weeks ago. I had it put in an antiqued terracotta pot, hoping it will flourish in a happy home. It also goes great with her office decor. Hopefully, the critters will stay away from it for a while, although Moo will soon be able to reach her heart's desires.
Despite it being her birthday, Quincy gave me another gift: an afternoon free from the canines. I planned to do paperwork, but ended up napping sans the oppressive weight of Reekie and Moo at the end of the bed. They cram themselves up against my legs as tightly as if I were wrapped up in cellophane.
Thanks, sis, and...
HAPPY THIRTY-SECOND (THAT'S 32nd), BIRTHDAY!!!!
Heh heh, eight more years to forty. ....Blessed Be
