The Spiritual Journey

A Touch of Philosophy....August 13, 1999

Perhaps I have had too much time off this week. The Goddess does not seem to think so. I have not had any semblance of vacation for years. By vacation, I mean something more than a long weekend trek to visit my bride.

It has been a slow week work-wise, and has therefore felt like a vacation. Clients are either at camp or away with their parents. I have not really worked all week, and find myself feeling highly disconcerted. Alas, that work ethic lurks in every shadow and around every corner. It is not just that, however. With a wedding and honeymoon coming up, I really cannot afford to be spending time off, even if there is little I can do to prevent it. This tends to feed into my work ethic anxieties even more.

Regardless, the time has given me the opportunity to catch up on much needed and much missed sleep, make some changes to this site, and just "be". It is "being" that I find most difficult. I always feel as though I should be "doing".

Given my increased respite and slumber, I find that I am experiencing some writer's block. I am not panicking, however. I am sure this is only temporary. Nevertheless, I find myself at a loss for words this evening.

Bearing this in mind, I am going to pose a philosophical question that I have been mulling with for a while now. I am hoping it will generate some discussion with my faithful readers:

What would the ramifications be if the entire world's population decided not to go to work for one 24hr period?

I have my own hypotheses as to what the consequences would be. What are your's?
