"Paintings...." April 11, 2000

Half Before Midnight...

<><>

I have debated with a great deal of anxiety whether or not I would post my paintings to my journal. Given the fact that working in acrylics is a new found passion of mine, my sense of satisfaction is relatively fragile, to say the least. Nevertheless, because it is a new discovery, I also understand that I have a lot to learn, and look forward to working with the canvass while my confidence grows. Indeed, until a few weeks ago, I thought my artistic ability did not even extend to drawing stick men.

The painting on the left is called Journey On The Astral Plane. It was done the afternoon of March 4, 2000, the day that The Goddess and I had Meris overnight. Thanks to the encouragement of Herself, I decided to join the ladies in a painting session, despite my reservations.

It was a great deal of fun, very theraputic, and most of all, I was pleased with my accomplishment; I was pleased enough to want to paint again at any rate.

The second one, entitled Leftovers, was done last week on April 4, 2000. That evening, The Goddess and I went to Alyx's to paint with his children. They were missing their Dad, and Karyn, too, who was maintaining a vigil at the hospital. We all had a great time, and I managed to snag a scrap of canvass paper, onto which I brushed the leftover paints from those that the kids were using. For some reason, The Goddess fell in love with it, and demanded I keep it. It was the first time I attempted a landscape, and indeed, only the third painting I have done. It is more of an abstract landscape, but at the very least, I like the colours. They were mixed by the kids, afterall.

A special thanks goes out to Lowlandz, who scanned the paintings for me, and is a source of constant encouragement to keep plugging away. Take a look at the paintings he has done (posted on his journal page), and I am sure you will understand why I am forever humbled by his immense talent. Also thanks to sweetie Von, who allowed me to use similar code for posting the paintings as she uses for putting up her incredible photographs.

And I painted again today, so it is doing something for me anyway. Perhaps you will see it when it is done.....

....Blessed Be...
