Midnight...
.....and I find myself at this late hour fighting to stay awake. I am not used to having to go to bed before a new day dawns, but as the hour creeps past twelve, I believe I will make this relatively quick so as to enjoy a slumber that seems not to be denied.
I believe it was having a full day scheduled today that did it for me. I usually do have fairly full work days, but Wednesdays are particularly tight, with little time to spare in between clients.
Or, perhaps it was the rather long afternoon walk downtown late this afternoon with client, Cody, The Goddess, Reekie and Moo that now finds my eyelids effortlessly pulling down like shades with weak springs.
It was a beautiful pre-spring day today, balmy, breezy, and predominantly sunny, with thick grey-white clouds in the sky that would consume the sun for a time before heading off to block someone else's view of the firey yellow orb. It was perfect for a stroll downtown with the pooches. There is enough stimulation in the city core to prevent them from perpetually yanking on the leash in an attempt to get where they do not know, or care, where they are going. All they focus on usually is getting there, in a hurry, like yesterday already. But downtown, there is a plethora of people, fellow critters, hydrants, and let us not forget smells, to keep them ever occupied and, as it turns out, dragged for a change.
Given that it is a commercial zone, there is a plethora of stimulation for The Goddess, too, perhpas almost too much for her to handle, yet it leaves Cody and I to get caught up on the goings on in his life.
The only drawback it getting The Goddess to focus on walking as opposed to window gazing.
A good time was had by all this afternoon. Despite her initial whines of protest, and demands for a break halfway into the walk, The Goddess had a great time, too. There is nothing like a bit of fresh air after a long winter's hibernation to freshen the soul, and lend one a renewed perspective on life.
Which we so desperately needed, as after the walk I went to pick up my completed 1997 tax return. And I thought Revenue Canada was in for a surprise.
Silly, stupid me.
Taking it as my cue that I should have been asleep at least five minutes ago, The Goddess just got out of bed to inform me that her period started...
...Like my life was somehow incomplete without that information....
