Almost Midnight...

.....and I must say that starting the day off in freshly washed clothes, toting around the scents of laundry soap and fabric softener, was a nice treat early this morning. I must remember to say a special thank you to The Goddess before retiring this evening. It is not that I am used to living in dirty clothes, but the freshness of just dried layndry does not last very long. It adds a certain...

...je ne sait quois.

It was another busy day back to the grind, filled with screaming children in protest of doing fractions, others screaming refusals for refusal's sake, meetings with teachers, meetings with social workers, and working on my taxes...

...for 1997.

Revenue Canada is getting a bit persuasive in having my return for 1997, and since I am at it, said the tax man, 1998 would be nice to have as well.

It is not that I am actively practicing tax evasion. I just happen to have an accountant that is perhaps the only living being that can outdo me on procrastinating. Between the two of us, it is a wonder I have filed anything after the 80's. Nevertheless, once Revenue Canada has your number, they become relentless.

Because I own my own business, they must think I owe them something. Are they in for a big surprise. One has to actually be making money to pay taxes. It will be a huge load off my shoulders to have it all done, though.

And I do not relish having to go to jail.

And I'll spare you, for now at least, on a diatribe of the social injustices of the tax system. It is too late and I am too tired. I'll wait until it is time for me to get my '99 taxes together.

That ought to give you at least a couple of years.
