Kliewe Family Highlights for 1997
<1996 1998>
- January
- Harry starts the new year off by getting a Lego block stuck in his mouth.
- February
- Time to say good-bye to Grampa Kyhn (1904-1997), the man who taught Sammy how to say "Holy Mackerel!"
- March
- Sammy develops a rendition of "Take me out to the Ball Game" that is uniquely his own. It is truly inspiring.
And incessant.
- April
- Removed the beautiful-but-deadly rose bush from the back yard. Now the boys can actually play back there!
Unfortunately, they still prefer playing in the driveway.
- May
- Harry learns how to say "No." Sammy learns how to eat salad.
- June
- Our garage sale is a huge success! Many thanks to all who participated.
- July
- We fence in the entire back yard! Harry and Sammy still prefer playing in the driveway.
- August
- Forget Martha's Vineyard. Forget the Kennedy Compound. Forget the National Seashore. Just ask Sammy and he'll tell you that the #1 attraction on Cape Cod is Smitty's Ice Cream Parlor, Route 28, Falmouth.
- September
- Aunt Anne's wedding is terrific! Sammy takes lots of pictures, and Harry keeps asking "What time is it?" during the ceremony.
- October
- Harry is a zebra and Sammy is Hercules for Halloween. This year's trick-or-treat take is tremendous.
- November
- The boys learn to fight. Harry specializes in psychological as well as physical warfare. He declares "I'm hitting you!" any time he punches Sammy.
- December
- New Year's resolutions for 1998:
- Climb Mount Everest
- Win a Nobel Prize
- Get the kids out of the driveway
Wishing you the best of everything in 1998!
Harry, Sammy, Miriam, and John Kliewe
