What in the world

Oh Dear, what in the world was that?
A beezle, a bozzle, a langaray?
Perhaps a demrool, a thyril, a wurcat
no, but still the strangest thing I've seen all day.

In fact, the strangest thing of any day
it bounced, and it flounced, from where I know not
Hong Kong, London, New York, Bombay?
If I could only send it back, I'd pay quite a lot.

And the way that it moved
it bounced through the air
but its' feet, its' feet were hooved
yes, really, both pair!

Then, the most startling sight
it truly did, it began to fly
I leapt back with such a fright
and with one hand stifled my cry.

How could it fly without any wings
nothing to flap, nothing to beat?
I told you, no wings, not even springs
yes, I looked, looked at its' feet.

It flew, it bounced, it flounced
made a sound half like a goat
and yet like a tiger as it pounced
I know it came from deep in its' throat.

Where did I see it, you might wonder
and this is what scared me so
it came out from my bed, where it hid under
and as it did, it brushed my toe.

It squinted at the light
shielding its' eyes, maybe crying
as if it were too bright
as it went bouncing, flouncing, and flying.

I finally learned what it was saying
when I finally peeked from my bed
and my hands clenched, finished my praying
listened closely, and deciphered what it said.

"I'm truly sorry to bother you
cause such a wreck, cause such a flutter
but I am all out of moo
and nearly the same with PButter."

That was the most startling thing by far
never expecting such a speech
it dropped an empty bottle, and a jar
just barely within my reach.

I'm not sure how it got back under the bed
if it bounced, or flounced, or flew
but I heeded what is said
and got it some more PButter and a fresh bottle of moo.
