progress…I have been photographing bands for about 5 years now, but I didn't wholeheartedly pursue this until halfway into my fine art course at goldsmiths college in london. Although I always longed to be the privileged photographer in the press pit at the many gigs I attended throughout the united states and europe during this time, my longing extended beyond press photography; I wanted to explore these passions in my own personal work - not merely document the moment for somebody else's sake. Realizing this was my journey-to-be was more difficult than it sounds. There were and continues to be, many obstacles to overcome along the way - as to be expected with any creative endeavor. Although I have recently concluded my degree at goldsmiths and parted with london, I continue to work through these challenges every day.
I hope that my work has shifted to somewhere beyond typical music press photography - my original intention was to extend the imagery beyond that conventionalized idea. At this junction, several things tend to occur, providing the viewer with thoughts unconnected from magazines and newspapers. It is at this intersection where my images arrive somewhere between painting and photography, and they seem to achieve yet something else when displayed within the digital and interactive world.
However you approach them, I think the photographs you are about to see (or have already seen) will send you to a strange and unexpected place. Enjoy ! |
