Diary 263

02-26-99

My morning has started off badly. I set my alarm for 5 a.m., only to have my clock decide that 4:30 was close enough, and sound the alarm early. I killed it, and went back to sleep, only to wake up late at 5:10. What I wouldn't give to have my trusty old digital alarm clock back. These old-fashioned wind-up clocks are shit.

I then proceeded to forget my watch. My watch and I have a love affair. I check it every couple minutes, even though I usually don't make note of the time when I check it. I just glance at the face, then go back to what I'm doing. If anyone should –god forbid– actually ask me what time it is, I have to check it again. I feel naked without this watch. I wear this watch during sex (and no, I do not time how long it takes with it).

I hope my watch isn't too lonely at home.

Last night, I stayed home in favor of tweaking my resume, rather than another evening with Jason. I don't know why Dirk and I can't have similar tastes in friends. Honestly, it sometimes seems as though his criteria is much lower than mine. Of course, he might feel the same way about my friends.

Dirk was supposed to call at 9:15. He didn't, so I waited about 10 minutes before calling his house. He wasn't even home. He didn't get home until 9:40, and then he told me he couldn't talk, because he was going out to eat with Jason. He should have known better. I'd waited all day to talk to him, and I actually had something to talk about, thanks to work being lousy. I wasn't happy with him, and he couldn't seem to grasp why.

Me: "No, I am not angry because you went out, I am angry because you told me you'd call at a certain time, and you didn't. Then, you fucking well tell me that you're going back out and can't talk....What? No, you are not starting this bullshit. For the last time, I'm happy you went out with your friend. I had other things to do, remember?"

A good time was had by all. Anyway, he promised that not only would he take me out to dinner and buy me lobster (even seeing someone eat seafood makes him want to retch), but he would also buy me more truffles (I'm out), and more tofu ice cream (hey! It was only a pint-size). It's no wonder my diet plans seem to be eternally sabotaged. He didn't get off the phone with me until 10:15, and then it was only after I pointed out the fact that it was rather rude to keep Jason waiting.

The moral of the story is: Agent Skatter thinks that punctuality and thoughtfulness are really important in a relationship.

Chris is coming back tomorrow, not today. Thanks for the clarification.

I'm actually very sad that my truffles ran out. They lasted until Wednesday, because I'd savored each one, and made sure to sing a couple little songs of chocolate love to each one before I bit into it. But, on Wednesday, my mother threatened to ransack my room while I was out, so she could eat the rest of the truffles. So I was forced to finish them off.

On the ride to work, I was forced to listen to the Titanic Soundtrack. I hate the song, "My Heart Will Go On". I hate Celine Dion. I wish the horse-faced bitch would die. For more thoughts on this subject, please consult Pamie, who made me laugh this morning.

Here's something interesting: a man is accusing our office of civil rights violations. Apparently, he applied for 2-3 jobs that our office was handling, and didn't get hired for a single one of them. He's also accused a couple other personnel offices. He says that he was prejudiced against, because he's black. That's funny. That's really funny. Only 5% of the people in this office are white, and none of them are people in charge of hiring. Never mind the fact that we don't ask people to indicate race or national origin on applications.

Alex is back, looking as healthy as ever. He says he spent the past two days in the sauna (or was it his hot tub?). The best possible treatment when you're allergic to air, I'm sure. I don't think he has a sauna or a hot tub.

I need to get away from here. Excuse me while I tweak my resume some more.
