BEFORE THE BEGINNING:

line

MoatsArt™ Enterprises was spawned from the creative mind of a man who (for the sake of anonymity and privacy) prefers to be called by the name "Xoandre."

Way back in the year 1989, Xoandre was introduced to a Macintosh computer. Yeah, I know what many of you are thinking: "Macintosh? Oh man that sucks." (And several of you are wondering why it should suck.) Well, the computers were given free to the high school where this introduction took place. Anyway, to progress this story more swiftly, Xoandre tinkered around with the Macintosh for a few months and found a program called "SuperPaint." That discovery was the fertilizer that inseminated what seeds were within Xoandre's mind that would eventually grow into MoatsArt™ Enterprises.

Over the four long and lonely years in high school, Xoandre created mouse-drawn line graphics, he recycled several clip art images, and his talents grew to what then he thought was an amazing set of masterpieces. These were used as flyers for school events, images in the school newspaper, and as programs for school and local plays.

But then something happened that he did not plan for: GRADUATION!

After a short summer vacation, Xoandre swooped off to college in 1993 and met a girl who introduced him to the PC. Suffering through the culture shock of generic prejudice between the MAC and the PC cultures, Xoandre eventually found the wonders of creating graphics on PC... The support (back in those days) for graphic design programs was far more borad under Windows than the unfortunate Mac OS 6.

And then the revolutionary event hit him in the face. Something more powerful and life changing than he ever could have expected. This was a thing so enormous and inevitable that he got such a case of whiplash, his head still spins when he thinks about that event. What was that wonderful enigma that shot adrenaline into his system of creativity?

THE INTERNET!

And so, in the dawn of 1994, Xoandre came across a little place online that allowed one to Post a Free Website: GeoCities. Thus, he did. After spending much time playing with graphics and making all of the mistakes that the pros nowadays know not to make, Xoandre created a magnificent website. Using HTML code he taught to himself, he constantly altered the site and tried to put some of his personality online.

It went that way for quite a while.

In the twilight of 1994, Xoandre had a total of EIGHT different websites on GeoCities and about 16 different email addresses to manage those eight. No wonder he called himself "the god of chaos and insanity" back then. Well, he gave up on a couple of the websites and just kept tinkering with them.

THE BEGINNING:

line

In July of 1995, Xoandre celebrated his birthday by formalizing the creation of a company, MoatsArt™ Enterprises.

Unbeknownst to him, another man began his own website and company around the same time using the same name in order to sell paintings that he was doing... He called his company "MoatsArt," only without the "Enterprises" attached. Being a Star Trek fan, Xoandre preferred to have some affiliation with the show that helped evolve his style and personality so much.

Later in time, the other "MoatsArt" would happen upon the MAE website and find that he was not alone. To avoid conflict, it was verbally agreed that MoatsArt would be his company and MoatsArt™ Enterprises would be Xoandre's company.

Xoandre worked over the next couple of years as freelance graphic artist and website designer (mainly for himself - so there was no real income there). But in the latter half of 1997, Xoandre received a contract to produce a private intranet for a major company in Chicago. He has been doing so ever since.

THE NOW:

Having pretty much eliminated all but a few of his websites, wether by choice or corporate buyouts and elimination of those websites, Xoandre has been steadily updating the few that remain. Those include Xoandre's World, MoatsArt™ Enterprises, and GHS 1993. All three now use the latest in CSS technology to allow for a more efficient way of updating of them in the future.

All graphics are now designed in the best graphics program around: Jasc Paint Shop Pro. Being one of the best purchases Xoandre has ever made, it has broadly opened up the opportunities for future surrealism and creativity.

THE FUTURE:

line

What is in store for this company?

Well, Xoandre hopes that more contracts will be presented for production of other internet or intranet websites.

Personally, Xoandre is working on his goal of official certification in graphic design and website design through college training courses. Much has yet to be done. Xoandre is a well-educated man who spends his leisure time designing graphics, coding html, or playing Diablo II. MAE is a part-time business with a full-time online presence. Through many mistakes and much self-taught code, MAE has built a solid education with experience that rivals many online ametuers.

The future holds what dreams we may make into a reality. It is up to our actions now to motivate those dreams to evolve one-step closer to being not dreams any more but life.
