"Evolutionary alchemist" who dedicates himself to "triggering mutations" and "transforming the human landscape", Sterlac claims that is aesthetic of prosthetics is founded on Marshall McLuhan notion that we’re being radically transformed, remade. Auto-amputated or exarcebaded by technology, Sterlac sees his performances as "cyber-body events" for "post-evolutionary human-machine synergy" One might say that McLuhan declares something and then Sterlac experiments it on his body. The australian artist points out, following McLuhan’s insights, that: "It is time to question whether a bipedal, breathing body with binocular vision and a 1.400-cc. brain is a n adequate biological form. It cannot cope with the quantity, complexity and quality of information it has accumulated... " (2)

Sterlac incorporates the new technologies. The body, the flesh is being metamorphosed into something which is no longer human but is not yet inhuman. What "it" will be, only time can tell. Such passion for technology has different rituals from the ones observed in the never ending task of information gathering, Sterlac points out: "Information is the prosthesis that props up the obsolete body.
