Wow. My birthday's in a week. Anyway, half of Missoula
hates us because of a quote taken out of context. That's nice.
Reminds me of the song 'The Last Janelle' by Screeching Weasel.
We've got a show this Friday, you should go. The FMZ are playing,
and they get better every time, the Raincoat Mafia is playing,
but I can't remember what they sounded like from the Poser Punk
compilation tape I got from Typson, and someone from The Expendables
is going to skullfuck Shawn. We should have pictures after that
show.
There's new audio! We recorded our practice last week so you
can check out our new members' playing finally. Go to the audio
page, young lad/lass.
I pretty much just updated our Shows sections and took
down the pumpkin (it was starting to smell funny). We practiced
last night, and it was rocking. I was back in the valley because
I voted Tuesday, which is what all 18-years-and-older people
should have done.
Nothing much added. I added an essay where I try to get
people to vote, but it will probably fall on deaf ears. It's
much easier to paint a stupid anarchy symbol on the side of a
building, isn't it?
I also fixed the lyrics to Mary Jane Parker. Every copy of
the lyrics say "So maybe she's married to Spider-Man / But
if Venom can beat her, maybe our love can." It should
say "But if Venom can beat him." Every time
I've fixed this problem gremlins have changed it back to the
feminine word. To the best of my knowledge, Venom and Mary Jane
Parker have never made battle. We'll see if it sticks this time.
It turns out my French class was canceled, so I figured,
"Why not update the website?"
The show last Saturday night was awesome. We debuted 'Vinny
Is a Cretin', as well as a bunch of all-new covers. Alaswasta
delivered despite shitty sound (my fault, I was running the PA),
No Potential (going by Killing the Hare I hear) rocked (that
was the first time I'd seen 'em live), we had a hell of a lot
of fun, The FMZ played the best show I've seen 'em play yet (a
Ramones cover and a Beatles cover in one night, what more could
I want?), Drive-Thru Junkies delivered some killer covers, and
there were plenty of people. Plus, I scored a free Flying Men
of Zimbabwe sequel. Someone was taking pictures, so hopefully
Shawn can get copies and I can finally upload some live photos.
Unfortuantely, we have no audio of the show.
Shawn's been plotting and scheming to have hella-shows for
most of the rest of the year, so that should be interesting.
We have another show planned at River Street (although it's not
been confirmed), and we're scheduled to make a return to Missoula
at Higgins Hall on the 15th of November. If we plan to go farther
than Missoula we'll need to teach our good buddy Carlos how to
drum in Choach's place.
Realizing that the Flying
Men of Zimbabwe nearly have cornered the Local Band Message
Board market, I have added one of our own. I assume it will be
primarily a place where Shawn can insult me, but hey, whatcha
gonna do?
Wow! I haven't updated this page in a while. Give me some leeway,
though. I've been adjusting to college life. Ha! I may have went
to college, but I didn't bow out of my band like Milo did! Despite
the fact that I live 50 miles from the rest of the band, we manage
to practice every now and then. I have plenty to do, though:
I spend a lot of time writing songs, or reading Tolkien books,
or working on my now 40-page long novel.
Say hello to our newest (?) member Tim Rose, who recently
picked up his guitar to play with us as well as Chris' band (whose
name for the life of me I do not know).
And, most importantly, we have a show. The Bitterroot Human
Rights Alliance is having an anti-violence rally on the 19th
of October and Shawn tells me a few bands will be playing, us
included. It's at the River Street Dance Theater. I swear this
time we'll play!
An MP3 from my solo album is available. It's called "Political
Party". Download it by clicking here.
Warning: this song has acoustic
guitars. If you're into more electric stuff, download the ska
song "Vegetarian" here.I
plan to have it at Interpunk by the end of the month and plan
to charge as little as (corporately) possible. If I can find
about 60 megabytes of web space I'll put it on the Internet for
download, too.
And finally, we plan to record a free demo to show off the new
lineup as soon as Thanksgiving Vacation at Why-Fi Studios, which
is what I call my garage.
