Jack, a person that strives for the best!
Jack
Garay was born in Ecuador and came to United States right after
he completed his high school education. His purpose to come to
the United States was to complete his secondary education.
Knowing that electronic devices were his interest, he started
pursuing a degree in electrical engineering. He started at Wilbur
Wright College were he had to learn the English Language. He worked
full time at Jimmy's Red Hot, 4000 W. Grand Ave., to pay for his
education and living expenses. "I worked sixty hours a week in
the summer to save money for the fall and spring semesters-Jack Garay."
Since he liked sports, he joined the swimming team at Wilbur Wright
College were he became the captain of the team for two years in
a row. His excellent performance in the sport of swimming and
high grade point average grant him an All American Academic and
Sporting Award. He also received a small grant that helped him
pay for his tuition.
After three years at Wilbur Wright College, he transferred his
credits to the University of Illinois at Chicago Campus to continue
his education in electrical engineering.
After four years of working at Jimmy's, he decided to move to
Minuteman International, 111 S. Route 53, for better benefits.
He worked as the import and export shipping and quality control
clerk.
Because his tuition became a little expensive, he decided to join
the United States Army to help him pay for his last year of college.
"In the Army I wanted to use my creative skills, rather that my
technical background, so I could concentrate on finishing my education-Jack Garay."
After deciding to become a cook in the Army and finishing his
necessary schooling, he was stationed in Kaiserslautern-Germany
where he participated in different events in the food service
arena, but his best performance was in culinary arts.
After winning a place in the USAREUR, United States Army in Europe,
Culinary Arts Team, he competed against twenty-two Army, Marines,
and Air Force bases coming home with a gold, silver, and bronze
medal.
In the Army, cooking was just a small percentage of
his obligations. He spent most of the time in: management, supervision,
training, logistics, and budgeting.
In his four-year Army career, he did not forget about his bachelors'
degree. He took one or two classes every term, as long as it did
not interfere with his military obligations. Since electrical
engineering was not offered in the Army schools located in Germany,
he changed his degree to Information Systems Management with the
University of Maryland University College European Division.
He completed his bachelors' degree in December of 1999 and he
received his Diploma in May of 2000.
He returned to the United States on January 29, 2000, ready
to perform his best as a Business Analyst, or in any challenging
position where he can utilize his technical expertise and creative
talents.
He found a job at Motorola as a Business Analyst.
After eight months he became a Project Manager for his group--Web Solutions,
where he participated in some exciting projects. Learn about these projects
