naetbuesus

my comments and why am I writing about this ..

The stories you've heard about people's computers on the net are.. partially true. :)
Netbus is a part of this - its a trojan horse 'virus'. It doesn't copy itself, it has to be installed by someone to be activated. If you get a file attached in an email, and run it, the virus might be a part of that .exe file. Its as simple as that.. you can just throw it out and never know what happened.

At the same time someone downloads a program from a public site. They install the program, and run it. They play with it for 15 minutes, watch the screen and come across your IP. They now know that you're infected with Netbus. Another click away is a key to your computer. ..

NetBus 1.60

When you're infected, you can be searched for by anyone on the internet. NetBus gives absolute control to your computer; afterall officially its an administrative tool.

Only a current, updated scanner is able to detect the virus. A friend sent it to me and I got infected too. It's fairly easy to remove it, click here if you think you might have it*. (Definitely click here if your CDROM drive opens by itself, or you get pop-up messages saying 'f*** you, you've been hacked' when you're on the net ;)).

* An easy test is searching for keyhook.dll file. If it is on your machine, try deleting it. (nothing else uses it but NetBus). If it won't let you.. that means the virus is there, and its active. Remove it if you wanna be safe. Another test is scanning your IP for open ports. NetBus uses port 12345. So if you got an open 12345, you have it =). <--back
boring.. you're right 1
