PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT REAL WEAPONS, PROBABLY NOT RELATED TO REAL WEAPONS, AND THE STATISTICS ARE PROVIDED FOR USE WITH THE GURPS ROLEPLAYING GAME (AS AN AID TO PLAYERS AND GM'S) AND NOT REAL LIFE. THE AUTHOR DOES NOT USE OR EVEN ENDORSE THE USE OF REAL FIREARMS AS THEY CAN BE USED TO KILL PEOPLE. EVEN IF USED FOR "HOME DEFENCE". Got that? THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. Cheers.

The X-29 Pacifier weapon apparently first appeared in an old X-Men related comic book, which had two of the protagonists, Wolverine and Sabretooth, working together for some reason. This is an approximation of the weapon they used, translated into a working format.

The X-29 Pacifier weapons series was developed by the CHA (Corporation of High Administration) in the early 21st century as a means to maximise available firepower against stubborn targets. They were code-named "Pacifier" in an attempt not to unduly panic CHA citizens and share-holders, and also to misguide mutant eavesdroppers about their true nature.

The result was a series of four weapons, in various increasing calibres, two assault rifles, and two submachine guns. The unique aspect of the weapons was that they had individual barrels feeding from two separate chambers, they were, in effect, two weapons firing from the same handgrip.

All of the guns have autofire capability, and have dual magazines that run down beside the firers hand. Each clip can be loaded with different ammunition if desired (APS and Explosive rounds are popular). The submachine guns also have folding foregrips that help to control the weapons recoil.

However, the weapons were a commercial disaster, and although they had incredible rates of fire, they were simply too expensive to produce compared with the likes of the 6.85mm Assault Carbine and 5.5mm Assault Rifle.

In 2080, the guns saw something of a revival, by street punks who wanted some serious lightweight firepower. The X-29’s filled a niche in the market, which lead to a massive crackdown of the weapons and the ammunition that they fired. Some still turn up from time to time though...

The X-29 Pacifiers use slightly altered rules for firing. Each burst actually fires two shorter bursts from each barrel, feeding from a separate chamber (in this case, the RoF 20 is actually two RoF 10's being fired simultaneously). Therefore, shots lost from each clip are only half normal. For those who don't want the extra annoyance of keeping track of each individual magazine, treat the X-29 as a weapon with a single RoF and a unified (not split) magazine.

X-29 Type 1 - 5.56mm Assault Rifle

This weapon was designed using the popular 5.56mm caseless round, as used in the US and British sections of the CHA army in their M16A3 and SA90 respectively. The weapon has the largest ammunition capacity of all the X-29 weapons, and is therefore the most useful in a sustained firefight.

Statistics: 5.56mm, Conventional Rifled, Long Barrel, Light Automatic, Caseless, WPS 0.011lbs, CPS £0.021, Shoulder Stock

X-29 Type 2 - 7.62mm Assault Rifle

This type of X-29 was built with the 7.62mm caseless bullet in mind, as used by the Russian division of the CHA army in the AK-60 series. The weapon outputs the most damage of the X-29 series, and also has the longest range.

X-29 Type 2 Ver Cr 5d+2 12 9 520 3300 20* 12 20/20 -1 10 2800 -5 0

X-29 Type 3 - 9mm Submachine Gun

The third type of the X-29 series was modelled after the highly successful Uzi submachine gun, as popularised by such films as Terminator and True Lies. It is the lightest of all the X-29 weapons, and consequently outputs the least damage. It found use with CHA’s special operations division as a replacement for their old MP5’s.

Statistics: 9mm, Conventional Rifled, Short Barrel, Low Power, Light Automatic, Caseless, WPS 0.014lbs, CPS £0.027, Pistol Grip, Folding Foregrip

X-29 Type 4 - 0.45 Submachine Gun

The final model of the X-29 weapon was based upon the infamous Thompson Submachine Gun, or ‘Tommy Gun’ as it was better known. The high calibre lead to increased wounding potential, but the gun was large, awkward and had a low ammunition capacity. Subsequently, it was rarely employed by any of the CHA armies.

How to build a double barrelled weapon
(for those who own GURPS Vehicles 2nd edition)

The design process for building a double-barrelled weapon in quite simple, just look at the table. However, the design process assumes that you cannot build a double-barrelled automatic (or even semi-automatic) weapon. Here’s how to bypass this:

Simply design the weapon as normal. When ‘design weight’ arrives, just multiply the weight by the amount of barrels you want. Each barrel can output the chosen rate of fire normally, so if you decided the gun should have RoF 10, then it can fire both barrels for a total RoF of 20.

To design a weapon with a multiple feeding system, as with any of these weapons or the Assault Carbine in GURPS Ultra Tech 1, instead of adding just one magazine in the ‘shots’ stage, add more than one!

Boring Legal Stuff

The X-29 Pacifier was not originated by me.

The X-Men (Ultimate, Uncanny, Astonishing or otherwise), Wolverine and Sabretooth are made by Marvel and / or one of their associates.

The Terminator and True Lies are films directed by James Cameron and not me.

The Uzi is manufactured by IMI and not me.

The MP5 is manufactured by Heckler and Koch and not me.

The Thompson Sub-machinegun was manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation and not me.

The 6.85mm Assault Carbine, 5.5mm Assault Rifle, GURPS Ultra Tech 1 and GURPS Vehicles 2nd edition were devised by David Pulver.

I think that takes care of everything. The rest of the work on this page was done by me (GMastEr). The idea to write this was originated b by Kathryn J. Tremblay (as noted above). 1
