PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A REAL WEAPON, PROBABLY NOT RELATED TO A REAL WEAPON, AND THE STATISTICS ARE PROVIDED FOR USE WITH THE GURPS ROLEPLAYING GAME (AS AN AID TO PLAYERS AND GM'S) AND NOT REAL LIFE. THE AUTHOR DOES NOT USE OR EVEN ENDORSE THE USE OF REAL FIREARMS AS THEY CAN BE USED TO KILL PEOPLE. EVEN IF USED FOR "HOME DEFENCE". Got that? THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. Cheers.
Adam Carter ran through the streets of Los Angeles. Although the streets were packed full of people, he felt alone, and very afraid. Behind him, the lone cyborg walked quickly, and with determination. As it walked, it simply shoved the people who were in front of it out of its way. It was on a mission, and when it was on a mission, no one, not even God, could stop it.
Adam rounded a corner into an alleyway, and started down it. The alleyway bended round to the left, and stopped. Adam's heart sank. He knew he was doomed...
"Heads up, son."
Adam looked up, and then heard a clatter at his feet. Looking down, he saw a large, oversized rifle style weapon was lying on the ground, obviously a higher calibre than his pistol by a long shot. The weapon mounted a round drum, Adam guessed this must be the ammunition magazine.
Hearing the dull thud of metal on concrete, Adam knew that he didn't have time to work out how to fire the thing. He simply hefted it up to his shoulder, and pointed it at the corner. The cyborg walked round it.
The alleyway was lit up by the muzzle flash of the weapon. Adam was temporarily blinded, and he dropped the gun. As his vision cleared, he looked forward.
Before him was a scene of utter devastation. The cyborg lay in pieces on the ground, and the wall behind it was spattered with blood, and had several large chunks of it missing. The 'borg had been torn in half by the force of the blast. By Adam's feet lay several large calibre shell casings.
"Don't worry, Adam. Know now you have a friend watching you..." The voice sounded gruff, yet friendly. Adam smiled, and looked down, wondering how on earth he was going to conceal the weapon that lay at his feet...
The gun is a fully automatic 10 gauge combat shotgun, mounting a 30-round drum magazine. The drum can hold 60 shotshells (due to their lighter weight), or 30 rounds of conventional ammunition, commonly slugs.

As you can imagine, my first attempt at this weapon was slightly disastrous. However, all is not lost. Although the gun is not really appropriate for a normal human, an augmented human, super or cyborg could use it quite happily. Linked to an ammo belt, and mounted on a tripod, with recoil reduction, the gun could make a fairly decent 'crowd control' weapon, perhaps mounted on the roof of a gangs vehicle. I'd imagine the 'Borgs weight would do something to offset the recoil penalties also.

In this first revision, I simply cut down the barrel length. This helped out matters greatly, giving a more manageable gun. This weapon featured in the story above. I also cut down the ammunition capacity, 'cause when using shotshells, WPS (Weight Per Shot) is halved! This weapon could fall into the hands of anyone who needs superior firepower, and is expecting to drop their target in a single burst of fire...

This version of the auto-shotgun has been rebuilt to fire a 12 gauge round as opposed to a 10 gauge round. The effects vary considerably, and the weapon is an interesting mix of the first two weapons. The Mk II ACS has a longer range than the V1.1, but doesn't have the hitting power of the V1.0. However, it doesn't have the incredible weight and St requirement as well! This weapon would find its way into the hands of heavy weapons users within large gangs.
And finally, a fairly unique weapon that fits into this category, a reconfigured TL5 shotgun, fully rebuilt up to TL8 standards!

The Winchester 2075 edition is a 10 gauge automatic combat shotgun, built using the design schematics for the Winchester '87 (see High Tech, 3rd Edition). The weapon has been rebuilt using high quality TL8 materials, and has had a 30 round drum magazine added. The loading mechanism has been totally overhauled, and made automatic. The weapon is noted for its light weight and high damage, although it has a serious kick. Recoil reduction will cost £800, and revise the stats to become ST 11, Rcl -3.
Shot: This type of shell fires a burst of small metal pellets. Each die of damage is applied separately to DR, and the same for blowthrough purposes. Shot also gives a +1 to hit.
Slug: These massive shells do DOUBLE damage after penetrating DR. When used in a normal shotgun, triple 1/2D range and multiply Max by 5. These calculations have already been used in the above weapon descriptions.
Dragon: This shell contains an incendiary such as phosphorus, turning the shotgun into a short ranged flamethrower!. Damage is 4d at TL7, and 5d at TL8+. Range is 6 yards, and the blast is 2 yards wide. Normal fire rules apply (whatever they are).
APEX: These military issue rounds are dual purpose armour piercing / explosive. Roll for damage as normal. If the damage doesn't penetrate DR, it does 1d explosive damage on the surface of the armour (a 5 or a 6 can cause blunt trauma on flexible armour). If it penetrates, the explosive charge does 1d x 5 as it explodes within flesh!
Thats all for now. If anyone has any suggestions or queries about this weapon, then feel free to email me.
