1881 Census Index of England, Scotland and Wales

International Geneological Index (IGI)

The IGI is an incomplete index to birth/baptisms and marriages covering most countries of the world, compiled by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) or Mormons.

For Great Britain the recordsgenerally fall between 1538 and 1885. Not all parish and non parochial registers are covered and some entries from particular registers are incomplete. The IGI is arranged in a separate index for each of the pre1974 counties of England (with London included in Middlesex) and separate indexes for the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Wales and Monmouth have two indexes, one arranged by surname and one by forename (to cover the Welsh system of naming).

Within each index surnames are given in alphabetical order, within surnames in forename order and within forename in date order. Details given are -
