COSTA RICA

Geography:

Costa Rica one of the seven countries of centroamérica and it's average size is, 320 kilometers long by 200 kilometers wide, with an area of 50699 square kilometers, what puts Costa Rica as one of the smallest Countries of the Area.

The main city is on the Meseta Central, which is a zone between mountains from 900 y 1500 msnm. It has two sets of volcanic hills one called Cordillera Volcánica Central and the other Cordillera de Guanacaste which comes from Nicaragua. 29 kilometers away from San José, is the active volcano of Irazú, at 3430 msnm. From the Meseta Central through the south east goes the cordillera de Talamanca.

In the Pacific coast there are two gulfs the Nicoya and the Osa, on the other hand in the Atlantic side there are no important gulfs or bays.

Costa Rica is a tropical country where the biodiversity is one the most important features, where the wethear in the Meseta Central is almost always moderated and on the mountains is kind of cold.

In the south part of Costa Rica the rain is aproximately of 300000 mm per year, otherwise in the Meseta Central rains from 150000 to 200000 mm between May and October.
