The 2nd Portuguese special
swatch is an Access model, which allows entering this century last universal exhibition
Expo' 98, that will take place in Lisbon between 22 May and 18 September 1998. This swatch
is part of a new Access generation: it only works there and all other Access models don't.
The exhibition theme is "The Oceans" and the swatch name is ADAMASTOR.
Adamastor is a mythical figure referred by Camões, one of the biggest Portuguese poets,
that in an epic novel "Os Lusíadas" describes the conquest of new worlds by the
XVI century Portuguese navigators. Adamastor represented the water violence at the Cape of
Good Hope (today Cape Town-South Africa), where the Atlantic and Indian oceans join. The
legend says that he swallowed the ships that attempted to cross it. SWATCH represents
Adamastor in a nicer way as an orange fish placed at the end of the strap (see detail
above) and in opposition to the mythical Adamastor this one will make things easier at the
exhibition gates.
The watch was presented to the media at the Expo' 98 premises, more precisely at the future Lisbon Oceanarium on the 30 of September 1997 and was available to the public on the 1st of October.

There are 3 versions: one available in regular stores and another "loaded" with the permission to enter the exhibition (only once), that can be purchase at a selected bank and at Lisbon Swatch and EXPO' 98 shops. Of course it's always possible to reload either one again. The third version is the MAXI.
LOADED VERSION:
It comes with a blue case sealed with a sticker to be sure that it hasn't been open and used before. It's only available in Portugal.
UNLOADED VERSION:
It has the same box but with an extra transparent cover (partially pulled up - picture on the top). It's only available in Portugal (???).
INTERESTING FACTS:
Swatch will have its own (who ever says that Swatch is not a world must agree that has at least the size of a country!). People with an Adamastor on, will be able to play interactive games but NOT win any prizes (Hooray!?!) at all...
For each Adamastor sold Swatch will give (only) 2 USD to a World Wild Life Found for the protection of the oceans.
