This case caused such an uproar in the community that protestors were present each time the owner went to court and they also made an appearance at the state capital.
One protestor carried 4 halters, one for each horse that died.
Thankfully there was some good that came out of this case. State Representative John Piscopo, R-76th District, introduced legislation to stiffen the fine for cruelty to animals from $750 to $1,000 per count. This was passed. In addition, Senator Michael Meotti, D-4th District, introduced legislation that would require every Connecticut municipality to appoint a volunteer to serve as a liason between the Humane Society and the community.
