"INTRODUCTION"
It all started in 1999. As usual I was on my rooftop, drinking beers, laying down and watching my "rollers" do their aerial dance. It was a beautiful Hawaiian day, with the sun burning down from above the lofty clouds and only the blessed tradewinds that were blowing from the blue Pacific not far away, saved me from being toasted, as I lay there, partly intoxicated, watching my little ballerinas, play in the heavens.

It was the best part of the day. I always flew my birds in the afternoon about 4pm. After coming home from work, I'd go into my humble-abode, greet my loving wife with a smooch, go into the refrigerator and crack open that first cold beer. "Yeah!", that first cold one always was the best !

After spending some time with my wife talking about the days events, I would pack a little cooler with more beers, let out my "rollers", carefully climb up the rickety ladder with cooler in hand, make it up to the rooftop, find that special spot, lay down and enjoy the aerial show!

It was that day in 1999, that I was up there enjoying the show when I had a phone call. I usually ignore my calls till later, but my wife said that a guy whose name was Robert was on the phone and that he wanted to ask me about rollers.

I climbed down the ladder. By now I was a bit unsteady from all those beers, but managed to make it to the ground safely. I got on the phone and spoke to Robert. He had a friendly voice, someone that made a person feel at-ease and could easily let their guard down. As it turned out, Robert and Ale, were driving around the island, looking for others that might be interested in starting a "roller club".

I mused over that idea and said that I would give it a try. So that's how it all started for the HPRC. Two impassioned guys, Robert Perry and Ale Lacuesta, riding around the island of Oahu, looking for other impassioned guys, to start a "roller pigeon club".

As of this date, 1/08/07, all is well with our club and its members. From the early beginnings of four founding members, our club has grown to roughly 20 members. We have a good group of guys. We get along well with each other, no one is on an "ego trip". We make allowances for each others short-comings, and try to make the best of what we have, individually as well as collectively. Our barbeques, club picnics are most enjoyable and whenever we have an out-of-state pigeon flier visiting, whomever is available, will take the time to show that person our island "aloha". "E Komo Mai"{welcome, come share with us}...that is our island way, that is our heritage.
